Mississippi Highway 27 (MS 27) is a state highway in Mississippi. It runs from south to north for across the western and south-central parts of the state, serving 5 counties: Walthall, Lawrence, Copiah, Hinds, and Warren. The segment between Vicksburg and Crystal Springs is known vernacularly as the " Utica cutoff" because it facilitates a circumvention of Jackson for I-20 / I-55 traffic flowing between Vicksburg and Hammond. Route description MS 27 begins in Walthall County at the Louisiana state line along the banks of the Bogue Chitto River, with the road continuing south toward the town of Franklinton as Louisiana Highway 25 (LA 25). It heads northeast as a two-lane highway to pull away from the Bogue Chitto River as it travels through farmland for several miles, passing through the community of Lexie, before entering the Tylertown city limits. It is a non-continuous highway, composed of segments from the previous path of U.S. Highway 84 (US 84) that have been displaced by new construction. Mississippi Highway 198 (MS 198) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The highway is the designation for six former segments of U.S. Highway 98 (US 98) that have been bypassed by newer alignments. These six segments are located in Tylertown, Columbia, Hattiesburg, Beaumont, McLain, and Lucedale. Louisiana Highway 25
Louisiana Highway 25 (LA 25) is a state highway located in southeastern Louisiana. It runs in a north–south direction from U.S. Highway 190 (US 190) in Covington to the Mississippi state line north of Warnerton. The route extends from the Covington city limits through the rural hilly terrain beyond the New Orleans metropolitan area. Franklinton is a town in, and the parish seat of Washington Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 3,857 at the 2010 census. The elevation is an average of above sea level. Franklinton is located north of New Orleans. A Franklinton physician, Jerry Thomas, represented Washington Parish in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1988 to 1999.
