Louisiana Highway 25
Louisiana Highway 25 (LA 25) is a state highway located in southeastern Louisiana. It runs in a north–south direction from U.S. Highway 190 (US 190) in Covington to the Mississippi state line north of Warnerton. The route extends from the Covington city limits through the rural hilly terrain beyond the New Orleans metropolitan area. It travels through northern St. Tammany Parish and traverses neighboring Washington Parish, connecting both parish seats: Covington and Franklinton, respectively. The only other incorporated area along the route is the small village of Folsom. LA 25 generally runs parallel to the Bogue Falaya and Bogue Chitto rivers, crossing the latter via the Chess Richardson Bridge at Franklinton, which it shares with LA 10 and LA 16. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is a state government organization in the United States, in charge of maintaining public transportation, roadways, bridges, canals, select levees, floodplain management, port facilities, commercial vehicles, and aviation which includes 69 airports, in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The agency has approximately five thousand personnel on staff and an operating budget of $2.3 billion. DOTD operations are run through nine district offices across the state. The current DOTD Secretary is Shawn D. Wilson, appointed in January 2016 by Governor John Bel Edwards. Louisiana Highway 16 (LA 16) is a state highway located in southeastern Louisiana. It runs in a general east–west direction from LA 22 south of French Settlement to LA 21 in Sun. The route makes a wide arc through the Florida Parishes region of the state, traveling east of Baton Rouge and avoiding the urban centers of Hammond and Covington. However, it passes through a number of the area's smaller towns and communities, such as Denham Springs, Montpelier, Amite City, and Franklinton. Some but not all of the signage south of Watson still bears north-south directionals rather than the standard east-west. Bogalusa, Louisiana
Bogalusa is a city in Washington Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 12,232 at the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census. In th2020 censusthe city, town, place equivalent reported a population of 10,659. It is the principal city of the Bogalusa Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Washington Parish and is also part of the larger New Orleans–Metairie–Hammond combined statistical area. Louisiana Highway 10
Louisiana Highway 10 (LA 10) is a state highway located in southern Louisiana. It runs in an east–west direction from U.S. Highway 171 (US 171) south of Leesville to the Mississippi state line east of Bogalusa. The route connects a string of small towns and cities across the Central Louisiana, Acadiana, and Florida Parishes regions of the state. It runs parallel and to the north of the busier US 190 corridor. LA 10 crosses the Mississippi River via the John James Audubon Bridge, the only such crossing between Baton Rouge and Natchez, Mississippi. Bogue Chitto State Park
Bogue Chitto State Park (pronounced bo-guh chit-uh) is a recent addition to the Louisiana State Park system. It opened to the public on August 28, 2010, after a delay of approximately three months. The state park is located off Louisiana State Highway 25 south of Franklinton, in Washington Parish. The name Bogue Chitto is from the Choctaw language, ''bok chito'', meaning big creek. Bogue Chitto State Park has a visitors center, a conference room, picnic pavilions, and a lodge overlooking a bluff. Guests may stay at one of four upland cabins or park among the 81 recreational-vehicle (RV) sites. A group camp may be reserved for overnight visitors, as well. There is a canoe launch into the Bogue Chitto River, fishing piers, an amphitheater, and a water playground. The site contains eleven lakes stocked with freshwater fish. Tangipahoa Parish (; French: ''Paroisse de Tangipahoa'') is a parish located in the southeast corner of the U.S. state of Louisiana. As of the 2010 census, the population was 121,097. Tylertown, Mississippi
Tylertown is a town in Walthall County, Mississippi, United States. It is the county seat of Walthall County. The population was 1,609 at the 2010 census. History The town of Tylertown was first known as the Magee Settlement. It was settled by emigrants of the Magee and Thornhill families, who came from South Carolina. J. Thornhill acquired the first tract of land for the settlement on September 20, 1816, after Native Americans were pushed out of the area. Cullen Conerly went there in 1850 and bought out the Garland Hart store and established a post office which was called Conerly's post office.
