Miss Universe 1973
Miss Universe 1973, the 22nd Miss Universe pageant, was held on 21 July 1973 at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens, Greece. Margarita Moran of the Philippines was crowned by Kerry Anne Wells of Australia at the end of the event, thus making her the second Filipino to win the title after Gloria Diaz. There were 61 delegates from around the world who competed for the 1973 title. This was the first Miss Universe event to be held in Europe, as well as in the Eastern Hemisphere. Maria Margarita Roxas Moran-Floirendo (born 15 September 1953), professionally known as Margie Moran (), is a Filipino beauty queen, actress and peace advocate who was the president of Ballet Philippines and is the chairperson of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. She is best known for winning the second Miss Universe crown for the Philippines as Miss Universe 1973. Limor Shreibman-Sharir (born 1954) (Hebrew: לימור שרייבמן-שריר) is an Israeli writer and physician. She was Miss Israel in 1973 and placed fifth in the Miss Universe pageant. Biography Limor Schreibman (later Sharir) was born and grew up in Tel Aviv, the daughter of Eliezer Schreibman, a school principal. Amanda Clara Jones (born October 28, 1950) is an American actress, former model and beauty pageant titleholder who won Miss USA 1973 and then represented the United States at Miss Universe 1973 where she placed 1st Runner-up. Jones was crowned Miss Illinois USA 1973 and later represented Illinois in the Miss USA 1973 pageant held in New York City. She won the Miss USA title and was crowned by outgoing titleholder Tanya Wilson. Her prize money included a $7,500 cash prize and a $7,500 appearance contract. Kerry Anne Wells
Kerry Anne Wells (born 25 September 1951 in Perth) is an Australian fashion designer, writer, commentator, news anchor and beauty queen who was crowned Miss Universe 1972. The 1972 pageant was the first to take place outside the continental United States. That year, it was held in Dorado, Puerto Rico. Wells was not crowned by her predecessor, Georgina Rizk because Rizk was not able to travel to Puerto Rico due to government restrictions because of fears of a terrorist attacks after a group of Japanese hired by Arab terrorists, attacked the international airport in Tel Aviv and killed twenty-two Puerto Rican tourists.
