Miss International 1961, the 2nd Miss International was held on July 28, 1961 at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, California, United States. 52 contestants competed in the pageant. Stanny van Baer from Holland was crowned as Miss International 1961 by outgoing titleholder, Stella Marquez from Colombia. Rosemary Edna Sinclair (nee Fenton; born 17 November 1936) is an Australian environmental and children's rights activist. She is involved in administrative approach related to developmental actions. She won the title of Miss Australia in 1960. In November 1988, in association with Christine Stewart, she founded the National Association for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) to fully address issues related to child abuse. María Stella Márquez—Araneta (born 17 June 1937) (née Márquez Zawadski), often styled as Madame Stella Márquez de Araneta, is a Colombian pageant director and beauty queen. She grew up in New York City then later migrated to Colombia, where she became a pageant titleholder. As Miss Colombia, she was crowned the first Miss International in 1960. Miss International (''Miss International Beauty'' or ''The International Beauty Pageant'') is a Japan-based international beauty pageant organized by the International Culture Association.
