Mirador Del Obispado
The ''Mirador del Obispado'' (Bishop’s Lookout) is located at the top of the ''Cerro del Obispado'' (Bishop’s Hill) in the northern city of Monterrey, Mexico. It features the biggest '' bandera monumental'' (monumental flag) in Mexico. The hill and the lookout receive their name from the building constructed in the middle of the hill by the end of the 18th century, the ''Palacio del Obispado'' (Bishop’s Palace). At an altitude of 775 meters above the sea level the lookout consists of a 40 meters of diameter round-shaped esplanade with the flag pole at its center. There are benches, a small parking lot (mainly for handicapped people) and 3 French gardens. The installations are also equipped with restrooms and water troughs. It was conceived as a family walking stroll so the main road is very wide and well illuminated. Cars are allowed to pass but the main parking lot is at the entrance of the Park. Banderas Monumentales
The banderas monumentales (Spanish for "monumental flags") are a collection of tall flagpoles containing large flags of Mexico located throughout Mexico. They are part of a program started in 1999 under President Ernesto Zedillo that is currently administered by the Secretariat of National Defense (''Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional''). The main feature of these monuments (though not the biggest, see below) is a giant Mexican flag flying off a 50-meter-high (160-ft) flagpole. The size of the flag was and it was flown on a pole that measured high. In the time after the decree was issued, many more banderas monumentales have been installed throughout the country in various sizes. Piedras Negras () is a city and seat of the Piedras Negras Municipality, surrounding municipality of the same name in the Mexican list of states of Mexico, state of Coahuila. ''Día de la Bandera'' ("Flag Day") is a national holiday in Mexico dedicated to the flag of Mexico. Flag Day is celebrated every year on February 24 since its implementation in 1937. It was established by the President of Mexico, General Lázaro Cárdenas, in front of the monument to General Vicente Guerrero; Guerrero was the first to pledge allegiance to the Mexican flag, on March 12, 1821. The Cry of Dolores ( es, Grito de Dolores, links=no, region=MX) occurred in Dolores, Mexico, on 16 September 1810, when Roman Catholic priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla rang his church bell and gave the call to arms that triggered the Mexican War of Independence. The Cry of Dolores is most commonly known by the locals as "El Grito de Independencia" (The Independence Cry). The Palacio del Obispado, Spanish for Bishop's Palace, is located in Monterrey, Nuevo León state, Northeastern Mexico. It contains a museum.
