The Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( gr, Υπουργείο Εξωτερικών) is a government agency of Greece. The Minister for Foreign Affairs controls the agency. The ministry has its headquarters in Athens. The incumbent minister is Nikos Dendias in the Cabinet of Kyriakos Mitsotakis. History The Ministry for Foreign Affairs was first established in 1822 by the First National Assembly at Epidaurus as the Secretariat for External Affairs. Nikos Dendias
Nikolaos "Nikos" Dendias ( el, Νικόλαος Δένδιας; born 7 October 1959) is a Greek lawyer and politician of the conservative New Democracy party. He is a Member of the Hellenic Parliament for Athens, and was Minister for National Defence from November 2014 to January 2015. As of 2022, he is the current Foreign Minister of Greece. Early life and education Dendias was born in Corfu in 1959, but he originates from the island of Paxos. He went to school in the Athens College, received a degree in law from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, a Master of Laws in Maritime and Insurance Law from the University College London and in Criminology from the London School of Economics. The First National Assembly of Epidaurus (, 1821–1822) was the first meeting of the Greek National Assembly, a national representative political gathering of the Greek revolutionaries. History The assembly opened in December 1821 at Piada (today Nea (New) Epidaurus). It was attended by representatives from regions involved in the revolution against Ottoman rule.
