''Milky Way'' is the third studio album by American rapper Bas. It was released on August 24, 2018, by Dreamville Records and Interscope Records. The album features guest appearances from J. Cole, Ari Lennox, ASAP Ferg and Correy C, with production handled by a variety of producers, including J. Cole, Ron Gilmore, Cedric Brown, Jay Kurzweil, Childish Major, Sango and Meez, among others. The album was supported by two official singles: "Boca Raton" with ASAP Ferg and "Tribe" with J. Cole, and promotional single, "Pinball II" featuring Correy C. The album debuted at number 35 on the US ''Billboard'' 200, selling 13,150 album-equivalent units in the first week. Abbas Hamad (born May 27, 1987), better known by his stage name Bas, is an American rapper. He is signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records via Interscope Records. His first studio album ''Last Winter'', was released on April 29, 2014, followed by his second studio album, ''Too High to Riot'', which was released on March 4, 2016. Bas' third album, ''Milky Way'', was released on August 24, 2018. Bas was born in Paris, France, in 1987, to Sudanese parents. At the age of 8, his family moved to New York City. The album-equivalent unit, or album equivalent, is a measurement unit in music industry to define the consumption of music that equals the purchase of one album copy. This consumption includes streaming and song downloads in addition to traditional album sales. The album-equivalent unit was introduced in the mid- 2010s as an answer to the drop of album sales in the 21st century. Album sales more than halved from 1999 to 2009, declining from a $14.6 to $6.3 billion industry. For instance, the only albums that went platinum in the United States in 2014 were the '' Frozen'' soundtrack and Taylor Swift's ''1989'', whereas several artists' works had in 2013.
