Mihkel Kerem
Mihkel Kerem (born 23 January 1981 in Tallinn) is an Estonian composer and violinist. Kerem graduated from Tallinn Music High School in 1999. In 2002 he graduated from Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre The Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (''Eesti Muusika- ja Teatriakadeemia'') began as a mixed choir of the Estonia Society Musical Department (EMD) on the eve of World War I. The assembly of the Estonia Society created the Tallinn Higher Musi ..., studying two disciplines: violin and composition. In 2006 he finished his master's thesis at Royal Music College in London. He has been violinist in several musical groups, e.g. in Kerem Quartet, and Tobias String Quartet. Tallinn () is the most populous and capital city of Estonia. Tallinn Music High School
Tallinn Music High School ( et, Tallinna Muusikakeskkool) is a special music high school in Tallinn, Estonia. History TMHS was founded in 1961 to ensure a sufficient number of quality applicants to the Tallinn State Conservatory (now Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre). It has successfully fulfilled its goal, as 80-100% of graduates continue their studies at EAMT or at other music academies abroad. TMHS is the only school in Estonia that provides a professional music education alongside the general primary and secondary curriculum. This system prepares students for a career in music or in any other field. There are 38 senior teachers and 23 teachers on staff with qualifications to teach at the university level. The Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (''Eesti Muusika- ja Teatriakadeemia'') began as a mixed choir of the Estonia Society Musical Department (EMD) on the eve of World War I. The assembly of the Estonia Society created the Tallinn Higher Music School on November 17, 1918. The opening ceremony took place on September 28, 1919. In 1923 the educational institution was renamed the Tallinn Conservatoire. In 1938 the State Drama School was opened. In 1993 the school was renamed the “Estonian Academy of Music”. In 1995 the Drama Faculty was renamed the Higher Theatre School.
