The Midland Flyers are a Canadian junior ice hockey team based in Midland, Ontario. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League and were former members of the Georgian Mid-Ontario Junior C Hockey League. The Orillia Terriers are a Canadian junior ice hockey team based in Orillia, Ontario, Canada. They played in the Georgian Mid-Ontario Junior C Hockey League until 2016 when the league merged into the Provincial Junior Hockey League. History The Orillia Terriers are the first junior hockey club in Orillia since the Orillia Terriers of the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League moved to Rama, Ontario in 1997. On September 13, 2013, the Terriers travelled to Penetanguishene, Ontario to play their first-ever league game. The Penetang Kings won the game 4-0, when Gordie Weiss played his first game in net. Midland is a town located on Georgian Bay in Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada. It is part of the Huronia/Wendat region of Central Ontario. Clarence Schmalz Cup
The Clarence Schmalz Cup is the Ontario Hockey Association's Junior "C" ice hockey championship and championship trophy. The champions of the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) are awarded the Cup. The PJHL was formed in 2016 from the former 8 provincial leagues that previously competed in a tournament, commonly called the All-Ontario Championships, to determine the winner of the Cup. Tubby Schmalz The trophy was named in honour of Clarence "Tubby" Schmalz, an administrator from Walkerton, Ontario. He served as the Ontario Hockey Association president from 1969 to 1972. Sandy McCarthy
Sandy McCarthy (born June 15, 1972) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right winger who played 11 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Calgary Flames, Tampa Bay Lightning, Philadelphia Flyers, Carolina Hurricanes, New York Rangers and Boston Bruins. Playing career Sandy McCarthy was selected by the Calgary Flames in the third round (52nd overall) of the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. He began playing hockey in the Georgian Bay Junior C Hockey League with the Midland Centennials and the Central Junior A Hockey League for the Hawkesbury Hawks. The Stayner Siskins are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team based in Stayner, Ontario. They were members of the Georgian Mid-Ontario Junior C Hockey League until 2016 when it merged into the Provincial Junior Hockey League. History The Stayner Siskins began their journey in 1972 as a member of the South-Central Junior D Hockey League. The next year, the league was promoted and became the Central Ontario Junior C Hockey League. The Penetang Kings are a junior ice hockey team based in Penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) in the Carruthers division in the Ontario Hockey Association. The Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League was a Junior "C" ice hockey league in Ontario, Canada, sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Association. The Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) is a Canadian junior ice hockey league spanning parts of Southern Ontario. The PJHL is the third tier of the Ontario Hockey Association and is sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Federation and Hockey Canada.
