Stayner Siskins
The Stayner Siskins are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team based in Stayner, Ontario. They were members of the Georgian Mid-Ontario Junior C Hockey League until 2016 when it merged into the Provincial Junior Hockey League. History The Stayner Siskins began their journey in 1972 as a member of the South-Central Junior D Hockey League. The next year, the league was promoted and became the Central Ontario Junior C Hockey League. In these early years, the Siskins were not overly successful in their league, but during the playoff were sent out to represent the league in the All-Ontario Junior "D" playdowns for the Ontario Hockey Association Cup. The Siskins first appearance in the All-Ontario Junior D championship came during the 1973-74 season. This year saw the beginning of a three-year rivalry with the Belmont Bombers of the Western Ontario Junior D Hockey League. The Alliston Hornets are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team based in Alliston, Ontario, Canada. Starting with the 2016-17 hockey season the Hornets will be members of the Provincial Junior Hockey League. Prior to the change they played in the Georgian Mid-Ontario Junior C Hockey League. History The Alliston Hornets were founded in 1971 as a member of the South-Central Junior D Hockey League. Despite training multiple National Hockey League alumni, the Hornets were in tough in the Mid-Ontario Junior C Hockey League with teams like the Bradford Bulls and the Orangeville Crushers. The Lakeshore Canadiens are a Canadian junior ice hockey team based in Belle River, Ontario. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association and Hockey Canada. Clarington Eagles
The Clarington Eagles are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team based in Clarington, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Orr Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League. History The Eagles were founded in 2011 to leave the gap in their community left by the folding of the Junior A Bowmanville Eagles. Bowmanville originated in Junior C from 1968 until 1995 and was promoted to Junior A. The team folded in 2010. The Eagles played their first game on September 23, 2011 in Uxbridge, Ontario. The Eagles dropped a 6-4 decision to the Uxbridge Bruins. Their first home game was on September 25, 2011, a 6-3 loss to the Bruins. The Mitchell Hawks are a Junior ice hockey team based in Mitchell, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. History The Mitchell Hawks were founded in 1966 in one of the many Ontario Hockey Association Junior C leagues. They finished low in the standings and were allowed to compete in the Junior D provincial championships. In the Junior D play downs, the Hawks found their niche and made it all the way to the OHA Cup final against a representative from Madoc, Ontario. On September 13, 2013, the Terriers travelled to Penetanguishene, Ontario to play their first-ever league game. The Penetang Kings won the game 4-0, when Gordie Weiss played his first game in net. History The Schomberg Cougars Hockey Club was founded in 1969 as a member of the Eastern Junior D League, but moved to the South-Central Junior D Hockey League in 1971. The founders were John Archibald, George Crane, Geoff Hogan, and Len Taylor. There had been a Junior team from the Metro Junior B Hockey League playing for a few years in the early 1960s. In 1971 Archibald visited eight adjoining municipalities to encourage them to enter junior teams and from that Alliston, Bradford, Keswick, and Orangeville came on board.
