Bill Martin (politician)
Bill Martin is a former member of the Michigan House of Representatives and former chief executive officer of Florida Realtors, the state's largest trade association. Bill Martin was born and raised in Ypsilanti Michigan. Bill graduated Ypsilanti High School and Western Michigan University. Martin joined the Michigan State Police as a Trooper In 1978, the same year he married Denise Andrews. Denise also graduated from Ypsilanti High and Western Michigan University. After graduating from Ypsilanti High School, Bill joined the U.S. Army serving with the 101st and 509th Airborne unit as well as the 529th MP's. The 2014 Michigan House of Representatives elections were held on November 4, 2014, with partisan primaries to select the parties' nominees in the various districts on August 5, 2014. 2016 Michigan House Of Representatives Election
An election was held on November 8, 2016 to elect all 110 members to Michigan's House of Representatives. The election coincided with elections for other offices, including U.S. President, U.S. House of Representatives and Senate. The primary election was held on August 2, 2016. There was no change in the composition of the House as Republicans retained control, winning 63 seats compared to 47 seats for the Democrats. Members elected at the 2016 election served in the 99th Michigan Legislature which convened on January 11, 2017. Background Over one-third of the House could not seek re-election because of term-limits, with the legislators who were elected in the 2010 mid-term elections, that saw the House Republican conference pick up 21 seats, the largest net gain for one party in an election since Michigan's newly constituted term-limits went into effect in 1992. An election was held on November 6, 2018 to elect all 110 members to Michigan's House of Representatives. The election coincided with elections for other offices, including U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Governor and Senate. The primary election was held on August 7, 2018. Republicans retained control of the House, despite losing the popular vote, after a net loss of five seats, winning 58 seats compared to 52 seats for the Democrats. Term-limited members Under the Michigan Constitution, members of the state Senate are able to serve only two four-year terms, and members of the House of Representatives are limited to three two-year terms, some of the toughest term-limit laws in the country. After the 2018 mid-term elections, nearly 70 percent of the state Senate and 20 percent of the state House were forced to leave office because of term-limits. Flushing, Michigan
Flushing is a city in Genesee County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 8,411 at the 2020 census. Flushing is considered a suburb of Flint. It is situated within the survey area of Flushing Charter Township, but is administratively autonomous. Flushing originated as a mill town in the mid-1830s. Its location along the Flint River, the county's largest river, was a decisive factor in its settlement. Water power potential was a significant determinant for the selection of the settlement areas throughout the nineteenth century. In addition to its water power, the area around Flushing was also well suited to agricultural pursuits. The Charter Township of Flint, also known as Flint Township, is a charter township of Genesee County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 31,929 at the 2010 census.
