Mewati Cattle
Mewati, also known as Kosi, is an indigenous breed of cattle in India. They are named after Mewat in Haryana state. They are known to be related to Gyr and Haryanvi cattle breeds. The cattle are almost universally white in colour with the rare occurrence of brown shades. It is considered to be a dual purpose breed with good milking and draft prowess. The bulls are known for their strength and endurance, and are employed for agricultural and carting purposes. Mewat
Mewat is a historical region of Haryana and Rajasthan states in northwestern India. The loose boundaries of Mewat generally include Hathin tehsil and Nuh district of Haryana, Alwar (Tijara, Kishangarh, Bas, Ramgarh, Laxmangarh, Kathumar tehsils and Aravalli hills tract), Mahwa, Rajasthan and Mandawar, Rajasthan in Dausa district and Bharatpur districts (Pahari, Nagar, Deeg, Nadbai, Bhusawar, Weir and Kaman tehsils) of Rajasthan, and Chhata Tehsil of Mathura district in Uttar Pradesh. The main centre areas of Mewat are Firozpur Jhirka, Nuh, Ramgarh, Paharisikri and Punahana. Mewat region lies in between Delhi-Jaipur-Agra. Gyr (cattle)
The Gir or Gyr is one of the principal Zebu breeds originating in India. It has been used locally in the improvement of other breeds including the Red Sindhi and the Sahiwal. It was also one of the breeds used in the development of the Brahman breed in North America. In Brazil and other South American countries the Gir is used frequently because, as a ''Bos indicus'' breed, it is resistant to hot temperatures and tropical diseases. It is well known for its milk producing qualities and is often bred with Friesian cows to make the Girolando breed. The Gir is distinctive in appearance, typically having a rounded and domed forehead (being the only ultraconvex breed in the world), long pendulous ears and horns which spiral out and back. Haryanvi Cattle
Hariana (''Hindi'': हरियाना) or haryanvi is an Indian breed of cow native to North India, specially in the state of Haryana. They produce about 10 to 15 litres of milk a day, compared to 8.9 litres when cross-bred with Holstein Friesian cattle (HS), whereas pure HS can produce 50 litres a day, but it is not as disease-resistant in the conditions of North India. Range The breed is native to Rohtak, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Jind, Hissar, and Gurugram districts in the state of Haryana. The cattle are of medium to large size, and are generally of white to gray shades in color. Features Horns are short and the face is narrow and long. The cows are fairly good milk yielders, and bulls are good at work. It is an important dual-purpose, milk and draught, cattle breed of India.
