Metsä (theme Park)
Metsä ("forest" in Finnish) is a Nordic-themed entertainment complex in Hannō, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. The complex consists of Metsä Village, entertainment and leisure area which opened in November 2018, and Moominvalley Park, which opened in 2019. The park was initially planned to start operation in 2015 to mark the 100th birthday of Tove Jansson. On June 30, 2015, it was announced that the opening would be delayed until 2017 at the earliest. On December 6, 2016, the opening date was further delayed to spring 2019. Situated in Hannō, a city northwest of Tokyo, the site includes a Moomin zone for attractions, and a free public zone or park area. Entrance to Metsä Village is free, but Moominvalley Park has an admission fee for the park and some of the attractions. The complex was closed temporarily in April 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tove Jansson
Tove Marika Jansson (; 9 August 1914 – 27 June 2001) was a Swedish-speaking population of Finland, Swedish-speaking Finnish author, novelist, painter, illustrator and comic strip author. Brought up by artistic parents, Jansson studied art from 1930 to 1938 in Stockholm, Helsinki and Paris. Her first solo art exhibition was in 1943. At the same time, she was writing short stories and articles for publication, as well as creating the graphics for book covers and other purposes. She continued to work as an artist and a writer for the rest of her life. Jansson wrote the ''Moomins, Moomin'' books for children, starting in 1945 with ''The Moomins and the Great Flood''. The next two books, ''Comet in Moominland'' and ''Finn Family Moomintroll'', published in 1946 and 1948 respectively, were highly successful in sales, adding to sales of the first book. Moomins
The Moomins ( sv, Mumintroll) are the central characters in a series of novels, short stories, and a comic strip by Finnish writer and illustrator Tove Jansson, originally published in Swedish by Schildts in Finland. They are a family of white, round fairy-tale characters with large snouts that make them resemble the hippopotamus. However, despite this resemblance, the Moomin family are trolls. The family live in their house in Moominvalley and have had many adventures with their various friends. In all, nine books were released in the series, together with five picture books and a comic strip being released between 1945 and 1993. Moomin World
Moomin World ( fi, Muumimaailma, sv, Muminvärlden) is a theme park based on the Moomin books by Tove Jansson. It was designed by Dennis Livson, and located on the island of Kailo next to the old town of Naantali, in Southwest Finland. The blueberry-coloured Moomin House is the main attraction of the park, where guests are allowed to go to all five storeys. Hemulen's house is located next to the Moomin House. It is also possible to go to, for example, Moominmamma's kitchen, the fire station, Snufkin's camp, Moominpappa's boat. Visitors can also meet Moomin characters around the park or the Witch in her cottage. Moomin World is not a traditional amusement park, as it does not have any rides. There are many activities and fantastical paths including Toffle's Path with the Witch's Labyrinth, The Hattifatteners' Cave and The Groke's House. Little My
Little My (original sv, Lilla My, literally: "Little Mu") is a character in the Moomin series of books by Tove Jansson. The character first appeared in the fourth book, The Exploits of Moominpappa (1950). She is a small, determined and fiercely independent Mymble.
