Metallurg Rustavi
Metalurgi Rustavi is a defunct Georgian football team based in Rustavi, which has twice won the national league. In Soviet times, the club played under the name "Metalurgi" (Rustavi), then during the independence of Georgia, the club was called "Gorda" (Rustavi) and FC Rustavi. After FC Tbilisi merged with club FC Rustavi in 2006, FC Olimpi Rustavi was established. History Football in Rustavi could be traced back to Metalurgi Rustavi in the Soviet era. In 1990, the club became a member of the newly created Umaglesi Liga under the name ''Gorda'' with Givi Nodia at the helm. In the first three seasons Gorda twice secured the bronze medals. Following Nodia's departure from the team, the management reversed its decision regarding the name. WIT Georgia
FC WIT Georgia is a Georgian football team from Tbilisi. The team is sponsored by WIT Georgia Ltd (a subsidiary of the United States WIT, Inc.), a pet food, accessories, and human and veterinary pharmaceuticals import company. WIT stands for World Innovation Technologies. They play their home games at Mikheil Meskhi Stadium#2 in Tbilisi. In 2004, FC WIT Georgia won the Georgian Championship, qualifying them for the early stages of the UEFA Champions League. In 2009, they won the championship for the second time. The 1991–92 Umaglesi Liga was the third season of top-tier football in Georgia. It began on 15 August 1991 and ended on 20 June 1992. The season was a first under the autumn-spring schedule. Dinamo Tbilisi (changed the name from ''Iberia Tbilisi'' in mid-season) were the defending champions. The 1990 Umaglesi Liga was the first and inaugural season of top-tier football in Georgia. It began on 30 March and ended on 12 November 1990. Georgia was still a part of Soviet Union, but the Georgian clubs were withdrawn from the Soviet league system and formed the Georgian league system. Iberia Tbilisi won the championship. 2009–10 Umaglesi Liga
The 2009–10 Umaglesi Liga was the 21st season of top-tier football in Georgia. It began on August 1, 2009, and ended on May 20, 2010. FC Olimpi Rustavi won the championship. Changes from 2008–09 Structural changes League size was reduced from 11 to 10 teams prior to this season. Promotion and relegation Borjomi were relegated to Pirveli Liga at the end of the season after finishing in 11th and last place. Other teams which will not participate in this year's championship are Mglebi and Meshketi, both due to unknown reasons. This means that originally relegated teams Gagra and Spartaki Tskhinvali will stay another season in Umaglesi Liga. The Erovnuli Liga ( ka, ეროვნული ლიგა - lit. National League) is the top division of professional football in Georgia. Since 1990, it has been organized by the Professional Football League of Georgia and Georgian Football Federation. From 1927 to 1989, the competition was held as a regional tournament within the Soviet Union. From 2017 the Erovnuli Liga switched to a spring-autumn system, with only 10 clubs in the top flight. The Georgian Erovnuli Liga 2 ( ka, ეროვნული ლიგა 2; ), organized since 1990 by GFF, serves as the second division of professional football in Georgia. Under the current name the league was introduced for the 2017 season as a part of reorganization process of the entire league system. It was formerly known as Pirveli liga (the First league). Structure There are ten clubs competing in Erovnuli Liga 2. During the season each club plays against its rival four times, twice at home and twice away. At the end of each season the winner gains automatic promotion and the bottom club is relegated. Locomotive Tbilisi
FC Locomotive Tbilisi is a Georgian football club from the capital, Tbilisi. During the existence of the USSR the club was a part of the Lokomotiv Voluntary Sports Society. The club has strong connections with the Georgian Railways. History Locomotive was founded on 14 August 1936 as a part of Lokomotiv sports society. The club won Georgian championship in 1937, which gave them the permission to participate in USSR Top League. Their debut season in the highest level of the Soviet football championship came in 1938, where the club took 24th place out of 26 and got relegated. However, the Tbilisi-based club managed to get another promotion during the following season and participated in 1940 Soviet Top League. But they were eventually disqualified from the tournament. Otar Kiteishvili ( ka, ოთარ კიტეიშვილი; born 26 March 1996) is a Georgian professional footballer who plays for Sturm Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga. Club career Dinamo Tbilisi Kiteishvili began his career in Dinamo Tbilisi. In April 2014, he was sent on loan to League rivals Metalurgi Rustavi. He made his debut on 7 May in the eighth matchday of the Umaglesi Liga championship round against Sioni Bolnisi, netting his side's second goal after coming on as a substitute for Kakhaber Kakashvili in a 2–0 home win. In the winter break of the 2014–15 season, he returned to Dinamo Tbilisi. After playing 14 games for Rustavi in the top Georgian league in the first half of the season, he played as many games for Dinamo after his return.
