Melodi Grand Prix 2023
''2023'' was the 61st edition of (MGP), the annual Norwegian music competition that serves as the country's preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest. It was organised by Norway's public broadcaster NRK, and consisted of three semi-finals and a final, held throughout January and February 2023. The winner of the competition, Alessandra with "Queen of Kings", went on to represent in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, United Kingdom in May 2023. Format The contest consisted of three semi-finals at Screen Studios in Nydalen, and a final at Trondheim Spektrum. From 2020 to 2022, a number of artists were formerly pre-qualified for the final, but this was no longer the case in 2023. Moreover, there were no duels nor a "last chance" round, and voting began once all of the artists have performed. A total of 21 entries competed, with seven songs for each semi-final. Nydalen
Nydalen is a neighbourhood in the Nordre Aker borough in northern Oslo, Norway. History In the late 19th century, the banks of the Akerselva River were dotted with various industrial buildings, Nydalen included. However, a transformation soon occurred. Beginning in the 1990s, Nydalen evolved into an urban hub of sorts with modern residential buildings, commercial and service establishments, shopping centres, eateries, and numerous corporate offices. The relocation of the BI Norwegian Business School to the area in 2004 further boosted the area's development. In 2003, a new subway station, Nydalen (station) opened in Nydalen. Norway In The Eurovision Song Contest 1999
Norway participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 with the song "Living My Life Without You" written and performed by Stig Andre van Eijk under the artistic name Van Eijk. The Norwegian broadcaster Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK) organised the national final ''Melodi Grand Prix 1999'' in order to select the Norwegian entry for the 1999 contest in Jerusalem, Israel. Eight entries competed in a show that took place on 27 February 1999 and the winner, "Living My Life Without You" performed by Van Eijk, was determined by the votes from a five-member jury panel and a regional televote. Norway competed in the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 29 May 1999. Jonas Gladnikoff
Jonas Gladnikoff (born 11 January 1985) is a Swedish songwriter and music producer. Born in Täby, he began songwriting at an early age. Later in life he moved to Åland in Finland before eventually moving to Stockholm. He has written several songs for singers from across Europe, but is best known for writing entries for the Eurovision Song Contest and for various national pre-selections. He studied songwriting at the Music Production Academy Musikmakarna, graduating in 2006. In 2009 he co-wrote the song that represented Ireland. The song "Et Cetera" was performed by Sinéad Mulvey & Black Daisy in Moscow, Russia. In the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest he once again co-wrote the Irish entry. Sandra Lyng Haugen (born 18 April 1987) is a Norwegian singer. Biography Sandra Lyng Haugen is from the town of Mosjøen in the municipality of Vefsn. She rose to popularity in 2004 after her participation in the Norwegian TV2 program '' Idol: Jakten på en superstjerne'', the Norwegian version of ''Pop Idol'', in which she placed fourth. Gaute Ormåsen (born 20 April 1983 in Brumunddal, Hedmark) is a Norwegian singer and was the Idol runner-up to Kurt Nilsen in 2003. Kjetil Mørland (born 3 October 1980), better known as simply Mørland, is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. He represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 along with Debrah Scarlett with his song "A Monster Like Me". Career Mørland fronted the band Absent Elk from its 2008 inception, releasing the album '' Caught in the Headlights'' in the spring of 2009. Christian Ingebrigtsen (born 25 January 1977) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter and musician. He is a member of the pop group A1. Biography Ingebrigtsen was born in Oslo, Norway, into a musical family. His father Stein Ingebrigtsen was the biggest selling recording artist in Norway in the 1970s.
