Melarcode
Melarcode is a village and Gram Panchayat in Palakkad District, Kerala, South India. "Mayilattoor" was the former name of Melarcode ("Mayil" meaning Peafowl, peacock), probably due to the presence of many peacocks in the village. Melarcode has a developed cultural background. Chittilamchery (also known as Chittlancherry or Chittalancheri) () is a village in the Palakkad district of Kerala located in Vadakkanchery - Kollengode main road.It is under the administration of the Melarcode Panchayath in the Alathur Taluk. Peafowl is a common name for three bird species in the genera '' Pavo'' and ''Afropavo'' within the tribe Pavonini of the family Phasianidae, the pheasants and their allies.
