Megan Carter Davies
Megan Carter-Davies (born 1996) is a British orienteering competitor. She became sprint world champion at the 2022 World Orienteering Championships. This made her only the third British athlete to become world champion in an individual discipline, after Yvette Hague and Jamie Stevenson. Carter-Davies was born in Aberystwyth, United Kingdom. She competes for the orienteering clubs Swansea Bay OC (United Kingdom) and Rajamäen Rykmentti (Finland). Carter-Davies attended the University of Bristol where she studied mathematics and was the captain of the orienteering club. Carter-Davies first tried orienteering at the age of eight, joining Mid-Wales Orienteering club. She has been a member of the Welsh orienteering squad. Carter-Davies won her first medals at the World Orienteering Championships in 2022, first achieving a silver medal in the mixed sprint relay with Charlotte Ward, Ralph Street and Kris Jones. Aberystwyth
Aberystwyth () is a university and seaside town as well as a community in Ceredigion, Wales. Located in the historic county of Cardiganshire, means "the mouth of the Ystwyth". Aberystwyth University has been a major educational location in Wales since the establishment of University College Wales in 1872. The town is situated on Cardigan Bay on the west coast of Wales, near the confluence of the River Ystwyth and Afon Rheidol. Following the reconstruction of the harbour, the Ystwyth skirts the town. Kris Jones
Kristian Jones or Kris Jones (born 3 April 1991) is a competitor in orienteering and athletics, competing for Great Britain. He also competes for Lillomarka OK in Norway, Forth Valley orienteers and Wales. Orienteering Jones has had most success in Sprint Orienteering, winning medals in the European Championships and the Junior World Championships, and winning the Jan Kjellstrom Orienteering Festival Sprint 3 times in a row from 2016 to 2018. He also has success in the British Orienteering Championships, winning both the Middle and Sprint twice. in 2016, Jones came 4th in all 3 disciplines he competed in (Sprint, Mixed Sprint Relay and Relay) at the World Championships in Stromstad, Sweden, the closest he has come to a medal in the World Orienteering Championships. Female (symbol: ♀) is the sex of an organism that produces the large non-motile ova (egg cells), the type of gamete (sex cell) that fuses with the male gamete during sexual reproduction. A female has larger gametes than a male. Females and males are results of the anisogamous reproduction system, wherein gametes are of different sizes, unlike isogamy where they are the same size. 2019 World Orienteering Championships
The 36th World Orienteering Championships were held in Østfold, Norway in August 2019. The competitions consisted of middle distance, long distance and relay, for women and men, respectively. Both individual women’s competitions were won by Sweden’s Tove Alexandersson, while Norway’s Olav Lundanes won both the long and middle distances for men. Sweden won the women’s relay ahead of Switzerland and Russia. Sweden also won the men’s relay, ahead of Finland and France. Competition format From 2019 the world championships are split in two (forest and park), each being held every second year. The 2019 edition is a pure "forest" format.
