Ian McTaggart-Cowan
Ian McTaggart-Cowan (June 25, 1910 – April 18, 2010) was a Scottish-Canadian zoologist, conservation movement, conservationist, and television presenter. He has been called "the father of Canadian ecology". He was the brother of meteorologist Patrick McTaggart-Cowan. Life and career McTaggart-Cowan was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and moved to North Vancouver (district municipality), North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada with his family when he was three years old. He completed studies at the University of British Columbia and then at the University of California at Berkeley, where he studied deer under Joseph Grinnell. Upon returning to Canada, he took up a position at the provincial museum in British Columbia (later renamed the Royal British Columbia Museum) for six years. William McTaggart
William McTaggart (25 October 1835 – 2 April 1910) was a Scottish landscape and marine painter who was influenced by Impressionism. Life and work The son of a crofter, William McTaggart was born in the small village of Aros, near Campbeltown, in Kintyre a western peninsula of Scotland. He moved to Edinburgh at the age of 16 and studied at the Trustees' Academy under Robert Scott Lauder. He won several prizes as a student and exhibited his work in the Royal Scottish Academy, becoming a full member of the Academy in 1870. His early works were mainly figure paintings, often of children, but he later turned to land and marine art specifically seascape painting, inspired by his childhood love of the sea and the rugged, Atlantic-lashed west coast of his birth. Olivia McTaggart
Olivia McTaggart (born 9 January 2000) is a pole vault athlete from New Zealand. She was born in Australia and later moved with her family to Greenhithe, New Zealand, Greenhithe, in Auckland, New Zealand. She attended Kristin School. McTaggart was a competitive gymnast for 10 years before changing to pole vaulting due to a back injury in 2014. After less than six months in the sport, she competed at the Australian Junior Championships in the under-16 event and won a bronze medal. In 2017 McTaggart broke the New Zealand under-17 record previously held by Eliza McCartney. Patrick McTaggart-Cowan
Patrick Duncan McTaggart-Cowan, (May 31, 1912 – October 11, 1997) was a Canadian meteorologist and the first president of Simon Fraser University. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, he moved to North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada with his family in 1913. He received a degree in Mathematics and Physics from the University of British Columbia in 1933. A Rhodes Scholar, he received a Bachelor of Arts in Natural Science from Corpus Christi College, Oxford in 1936. Returning to Canada, he joined the Meteorological Service of Canada and was an officer in charge of the meteorological service in Newfoundland from 1937 to 1942. During World War II, he was the chief meteorologist for the RAF Ferry Command and was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 1944. Lynne McTaggart (born 23 January 1951, in New York City) is an American alternative medicine activist, lecturer, journalist, author, and publisher. She is the author of six books, including ''The Intention Experiment'' and ''The Field''. According to her author profile, she is a spokesperson "on consciousness, the new physics, and the practices of conventional and alternative medicine." McTaggart is anti-vaccinationist. Sir John McTaggart, 1st Baronet (15 March 1789 – 13 August 1867) was a Scottish Whig MP in the United Kingdom parliament. He was created a baronet in 1841. The title became extinct upon his death. David Fraser McTaggart (June 24, 1932 – March 23, 2001) was a Canadian-born environmentalist who played a central part in the foundation of Greenpeace International. An excellent all-around athlete, as a young man he won three consecutive Canadian National Badminton Championships in men's singles (1956–1958) and represented that country in badminton's Thomas Cup (men's world team championship) competition. Prior to his involvement in Greenpeace he had prospered as a builder and developer. In 1972, responding to an ad in the newspapers, he used his personal boat to protest the testing of nuclear weapons in the Pacific by the French government. After getting his boat damaged and being physically hurt by the French Military, his protest succeeded in 1974 when the French announced the end of their atmospheric nuclear testing program.
