Maztica Campaign Set
''Maztica Campaign Set'' is an accessory for the 2nd edition of the ''Advanced Dungeons & Dragons'' fantasy role-playing game. The campaign set was co-authored by Douglas Niles and Tim Beach and published by TSR, Inc. in 1991. Contents The campaign set is based on the Maztica books ''Ironhelm'', ''Viperhand'', and ''Feathered Dragon''. The campaign set comprises three main volumes. The first is a 96-page book called ''Journey to the True World'' with Maztican history and setting reference information. The second volume, ''Maztica Alive!'', has additional information such as "terrain and climate, regions of Maztica, passage from the Sword Coast to Maztica, the afterlife, a short adventure, and four new monsters". Douglas Niles
Douglas Niles (born December 1, 1954, in Brookfield, Wisconsin) is a fantasy author and game designer. Niles was one of the creators of the Dragonlance world and the author of the first three Forgotten Realms novels, the ''Star Frontiers'' space opera setting and the ''Top Secret (role-playing game), Top Secret S/I'' espionage role-playing game. Early life and education Niles was born in Brookfield, Wisconsin, a suburb of Milwaukee, and his family moved to Nashotah, Wisconsin, Nashotah, a small town to the north, when he was twelve years old. Niles developed an interest in heroic fantasy, as well as wargaming, and began writing short stories and making short films in high school. Niles attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, where he majored in speech and minored in English. ''White Wolf'' is a game magazine that was published by White Wolf Publishing from 1986 to 1995. History While still in high school, Stewart Wieck and Steve Wieck decided to self-publish their own magazine, and Steve chose the name "White Wolf" after Elric of Melniboné. ''White Wolf'' #1 was published by their White Wolf Publishing in August 1986 and distributors began to order the magazine a few issues later as its print runs continued to increase. Abeir-Toril is the fictional planet that makes up the ''Forgotten Realms'' ''Dungeons & Dragons'' campaign setting, as well as the Al-Qadim and Maztica campaign settings and the 1st edition version of the Oriental Adventures campaign setting. The name means "cradle of life" in an archaic fictional language of the setting. It consists of various continents and islands, including Faerûn, Kara-Tur, Zakhara, Maztica, Osse, Anchorome and Katashaka, a sub-Saharan-like continent south of Maztica, where humanity appeared.
