Max Woiski Sr.
Max Woiski Sr. (February 11, 1911 – January 31, 1981) was a Surinamese musician. Career Woiski started to make popular music in the 1930s in Amsterdam. In his own club ''La Cubana'' in Amsterdam, he performed under the name "José Baretto" and mainly participated in Latin American music with his orchestra. In the 1950s, he switched to Surinamese music. His biggest hit was ''B.B. met R.'' Domburg, Suriname
Domburg is a resort in the Wanica District of Suriname, located on the northern coast of South America. Its population at the 2012 census was 5,661. Domburg is located on the Suriname River, about 16 kilometers to the south of the capital of Paramaribo. It is bordered by the district Commewijne to the north and east, Para to the south and the resort Houttuin to the west. Near Domburg in Oost, an artificial white sand beach, ''White Beach'', has been created along the Suriname River. History Domburg was founded as a sugar plantation in 1737 by P. Hoogeveen
Hoogeveen (; nds-nl, 't Ogeveine or '' 't Oveine'') is a municipality and a town in the Dutch province of Drenthe. Population centres Elim, Fluitenberg, Hoogeveen and Noordscheschut, which still have the canals which used to be throughout the town. Other villages of the town are Hollandscheveld, Nieuw Moscou, Nieuweroord, Nieuwlande, Pesse, Stuifzand and Tiendeveen. History Hoogeveen dates its history to 20 December 1625, when Roelof van Echten bought a large tract of peat land from farmers of the district with the plan to harvest its peat. Ciska Peters is a female singer from the Netherlands who had success in the 1970s and 1980s with six hits during that period. She is remembered for her hits "Dans Naar de Zon", "España Mañana", "Zo Zal Deze Zomer Zijn" and "De Zwarte Kat". Background Peters was born in Nijmegen, the Netherlands on 1 June 1945. She married Pim ter Linde, a Royal Netherlands Air Force photographer. They had a son called Mark Robert. CNR Records
CNR is a Dutch audio and video label. It was founded in 1937 as CNR Records by Cornelis Nicolaas Rood, who made his fortune as a producer of lampshades and other lighting materials. Rood regarded his record label merely as a hobby, but things changed for the better in the early 1950s when CNR bought distribution and marketing rights for several foreign pop and classical record companies. He also signed up several local artists. One of CNR's first major successes was Dutch singer Gert Timmerman, who became one of the Dutch top selling male artists from the end of the 1950s. In the 1960s, CNR enjoyed major successes with artists like Trio Hellenique, Gert Timmerman (who was also part of a duo, Gert & Hermien) and Heintje, a Dutch teenage singer who sold millions of singles and albums in Europe between 1966 and the early 1970s.
