Matthew Lessner is an artist and independent filmmaker. Biography Born in Walnut Creek, California, Lessner was raised in Roseburg, Oregon, where he attended Roseburg High School. He graduated in 2005 from Chapman University, where he studied film. Short films Lessner's directorial debut was the 2005 short film ''Darling Darling'' starring Michael Cera, which screened at over 30 film festivals worldwide including the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, Comedia, and the Ann Arbor Film Festival where Lessner won the Tom Berman Most Promising Filmmaker Award. The film is included on the sixth issue of ''Wholphin'' DVD magazine with alternate audio versions by John Cleese and Daniel Handler. SFFILM, formerly known as The San Francisco Film Society, is a nonprofit arts organization located in San Francisco, California, that presents year-round programs and events in film exhibition, media education, and filmmaker services. The Executive Director of the San Francisco Film Society is Noah Cowan, who joined the organization in March 2014. Prior to Cowan, Ted Hope served as executive director between August 2012 and December 2013. Prior to Hope, SFFS was headed by Bingham Ray, who served for only ten weeks before his death in January 2012. Between 2005–2011, SFFS was led by Graham Leggat until his death in August 2011. Lookingglass, Oregon
Lookingglass is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in the Lookingglass Valley of Douglas County, Oregon, United States, about southwest of Roseburg. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 855. Lookingglass is considered a suburb of Roseburg. History The valley was named in 1846 by surveyor Hoy Flournoy, who said the beautiful green grass of the valley reflected light almost as well as a mirror. Flournoy later returned to settle in the area. The Lookingglass Store, built in 1852, was once the terminus for the Oakland to Lookingglass stage and freight road.
