Matt McCall (basketball)
Matthew Wayne McCall (born December 12, 1981) is an American college basketball coach. He was most recently the head men's basketball coach at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass). Coaching career McCall was a student manager at the University of Florida during the 2002–03 season. He was named head manager the following year. After graduating, he continued working with the program, and in 2006 he was named director of basketball operations. In 2008, he was hired as an assistant coach at Florida Atlantic. He held that position until 2011, when he was hired by the University of Florida as an assistant. McCall was hired by Chattanooga in April 2015 after Will Wade left to take the head coaching job at VCU. The 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season began on November 5, 2019. The first tournament was the 2K Sports Classic and the season concluded prematurely on March 12, 2020. The 2020 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament was scheduled to end in Atlanta on April 6, 2020, but was ultimately canceled. All other postseason tournaments were canceled as well. Practices officially began in late September. On March 12, 2020, the NCAA announced that all remaining winter and spring championships for both men's and women's sports were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the first cancellation in the history of the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. The NCAA did not name an official national champion after the tournament was canceled. Atlantic 10 Conference
The Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) is a collegiate athletic conference whose schools compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Division I. The A-10's member schools are located in states mostly on the United States Eastern Seaboard, as well as some in the Midwest: Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, and Missouri as well as in the District of Columbia. Although some of its members are state-funded, half of its membership is made up of private, Catholic institutions. The UMass Minutemen basketball team represents the University of Massachusetts Amherst in Amherst, Massachusetts, in NCAA Division I men's college basketball. History The men's basketball program has a history of over 100 years. The Minutemen, as they have been called since 1972, celebrated their 100th season in 2008–09.
