2020–21 UMass Minutemen Basketball Team
The 2020–21 UMass Minutemen basketball team represented the University of Massachusetts Amherst during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Minutemen were led by fourth-year head coach Matt McCall and played their home games at the William D. Mullins Memorial Center in Amherst, Massachusetts as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 8–7, 6–4 in A-10 Play to finish in 5th place. They defeated Saint Joseph’s in the second round of the A-10 tournament before losing in the quarterfinals to Saint Louis. Previous season The Minutemen finished the 2019–20 season 14–17, 8–10 in A-10 play to finish in eighth place. Their season ended when the A-10 tournament and all other postseason tournaments were canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Matt McCall (basketball)
Matthew Wayne McCall (born December 12, 1981) is an American college basketball coach. He was most recently the head men's basketball coach at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass). Coaching career McCall was a student manager at the University of Florida during the 2002–03 season. He was named head manager the following year. After graduating, he continued working with the program, and in 2006 he was named director of basketball operations. In 2008, he was hired as an assistant coach at Florida Atlantic. He held that position until 2011, when he was hired by the University of Florida as an assistant. McCall was hired by Chattanooga in April 2015 after Will Wade left to take the head coaching job at VCU. Homer, Louisiana
Homer is a town in and the parish seat of Claiborne Parish in northern Louisiana, United States. Named for the Greek poet Homer, the town was laid out around the Courthouse Square in 1850 by Frank Vaughn. The present-day brick courthouse, built in the Greek Revival style of architecture, is one of only four pre-Civil War courthouses in Louisiana still in use. The building, completed in 1860, was accepted by the Claiborne Parish Police Jury on July 20, 1861, at a cost of $12,304.36, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Mattapan
Mattapan () is a neighborhood in Boston, Massachusetts. Historically a section of neighboring Dorchester, Mattapan became a part of Boston when Dorchester was annexed in 1870. Mattapan is the original Native American name for the Dorchester area, possibly meaning "a place to sit." At the 2010 census, it had a population of 36,480, with the majority of its population immigrants. Like other neighborhoods of the late 19th and early 20th century, Mattapan developed, residentially and commercially, as the railroads and streetcars made downtown Boston increasingly accessible. Djery Baptiste
Djery Jean Baptiste ; born 12 November 1995) is a Haitian basketball player. He played college basketball for the Vanderbilt Commodores and the UMass Minutemen. Early life and high school career Baptiste was born in Gonaïves, Haiti to Hebert Jean Baptiste and Wislonde Destin. He arrived in the United States when he was 15 years old. Baptiste attended the Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano, Texas and won two consecutive state championships the two years he was there. At the end of his senior year, he was named Defensive Player of the Year by his team. He was named All-Area Honorable Mention by the Dallas Morning News. College career Baptiste chose to play at Vanderbilt for academic reasons, despite receiving multiple offers from other schools. Baptiste departed from the team in June 2018 to focus on his studies. Bradley Braves Men's Basketball
The Bradley Braves men's basketball team represents Bradley University, located in Peoria, Illinois, in NCAA Division I basketball competition. They compete as a member of the Missouri Valley Conference. The Braves are currently coached by Brian Wardle and play their home games at Carver Arena. Bradley has appeared in nine NCAA Tournaments, including two Final Fours and national championship games in 1950 and 1954. They last appeared in the NCAA tournament in 2019, and last reached the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in 2006. Winter Haven is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. It is fifty-one miles east of Tampa. The population was 49,219 at the 2020 census.
