Maryland Route 579
Maryland Route 579 (MD 579) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known as Bozman Neavitt Road, the state highway runs from the beginning of state maintenance in Neavitt north to MD 33 near St. Michaels. MD 579 provides access to the peninsula containing Neavitt and Bozman, which lies between Harris Creek and Broad Creek in western Talbot County. The state highway was constructed from MD 33 to Bozman in the mid-1930s and extended to Neavitt in the late 1950s. Route description MD 579 begins at the beginning of state maintenance at the southern end of the village of Neavitt. Long Point Road continues south to its southern terminus, and another road continues south a short distance further to Long Point. MD 579 heads northwest as a two-lane undivided road through Neavitt, which sits on Balls Creek to the northeast. Maryland Route 33 (MD 33) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The state highway runs from Tilghman Island east to Washington Street in Easton. MD 33 connects Easton, the county seat of Talbot County, with all communities on the peninsula that juts west into the Chesapeake Bay between the Miles River and Eastern Bay on the north and the Tred Avon River and Choptank River on the south. The state highway passes through the historic town of Saint Michaels, home of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, and enters Tilghman Island by passing over Knapps Narrows on the busiest bascule drawbridge in the United States. Harris Creek (Maryland)
Harris Creek (Maryland) is a tidal creek on the eastern shore of Maryland. It is a location for oyster restoration. Harris Creek was named for William Harris, a 19th-century landowner. Location It flows from north to south into the Chesapeake Bay, in Talbot County, Maryland, near Tilghman Island. Oyster restoration The Nature Conservancy, and the Oyster Recovery Partnership, Maryland Department of Natural Resources, the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers planted oyster spat on 350 underwater acres. Planting began in 2012. Water quality is measured with a vertical profiler and water quality sondes moored at the bottom.
