Mary Van Blarcom
Mary Van Blarcom (1913–1953) was an American artist known for her printmaking. Biography Van Blarcom was born in 1913 in Newark, New Jersey. She studied at Wellesley College. She was a member of the National Association of Women Artists. She was also a member of the National Serigraph Society (which is about silk screening), serving on the board of trustees from 1945 through 1952. Van Blarcom was included in the 1947 and the 1951 Dallas Museum of Fine Arts exhibitions of the National Serigraph Society. She also exhibited her work the Carnegie International. Additional notable venues for her works include the Elisabet Ney Museum, the Library of Congress, the Montclair Art Museum, the National Association of Women Artists, the Philadelphia Art Alliance, and the Society of Independent Artists. Point Pleasant is a borough in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the borough's population was down from 19,306 in 2000 but still up from 18,177 in 1990. The Borough is a Jersey Shore community situated south of the Manasquan River and north and east of the Beaverdam Creek and its confluence with the Metedeconk River. National Serigraph Society
The National Serigraph Society was founded in 1940 by a group of artists involved in the WPA Federal Art Project, including Anthony Velonis, Max Arthur Cohn, and Hyman Warsager. The creation of the society coincided with the rise of serigraphs being used as a medium for fine art. Originally called the ''Silk Screen Group'', the name was soon changed to the ''National Serigraph Society''. The National Serigraph Society had its own gallery, the ''Serigraph Gallery'' at 38 West 57th Street in New York City. They published a quarterly newsletter called the "Serigraph Quarterly." The Society had lectures, published prints, and coordinated traveling shows. The Carnegie International is a North American exhibition of contemporary art from around the globe. Elisabet Ney Museum
The Elisabet Ney Museum is a museum located in Austin, Texas, United States. It is housed in the former studio of sculptor Elisabet Ney and is dedicated to showcasing her life and works. There is a permanent collection of her portrait busts and personal memorabilia on display. History ''Formosa'', as Ney called the studio, was completed in 1893 and enlarged in 1902. It was the earliest art studio built in Texas. After Ney died in 1907, Ella and Joseph B. Dibrell purchased the building to preserve it as an art center in memory of her. The Philadelphia Art Alliance at University of the Arts is a multidisciplinary arts center located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood. Society of Independent Artists was an association of American artists founded in 1916 and based in New York. Background Based on the French Société des Artistes Indépendants, the goal of the society was to hold annual exhibitions by avant-garde artists. Exhibitions were to be open to anyone who wanted to display their work, and shows were without juries or prizes. In order to enter, one had to pay a six-dollar membership and entry fee. Founders of the Society were Walter Arensberg, John Covert, Marcel Duchamp, Katherine Sophie Dreier, William J.
