Marshall Burt
Marshall A. Burt (born May 6, 1976) is an American politician who served in the Wyoming House of Representatives. A member of the Libertarian Party, Burt represented the 39th district from 2021 to 2023. Burt is the first Libertarian candidate to be elected to a state legislature since Steve Vaillancourt in 2000, and the first third-party candidate elected to the Wyoming Legislature in over 100 years. Burt was defeated by Republican Cody Wylie in the 2022 Wyoming House of Representatives election. Early life and career Burt was born in Rochester, Minnesota. He is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served nine years in Okinawa, Japan, and in the Iraq War. He is employed by the Union Pacific Railroad as a track inspector. Third Party (United States)
Third party is a term used in the United States for American political parties other than the two dominant parties, currently the Republican and Democratic Parties. Sometimes the phrase "minor party" is used instead of third party. Third parties are most often encountered when they nominate presidential candidates. No third-party candidate has won the presidency since the Republican Party became a major party in the mid-19th century. Since that time, only in five elections ( 1892, 1912, 1924, 1948, and 1968) has a third-party candidate carried any states, and only in one of them (1912) did that candidate come out in second place nationally or electorally. Cheyenne, Wyoming
Cheyenne ( or ) is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Wyoming, as well as the county seat of Laramie County, with 65,132 residents, per the 2020 US Census. It is the principal city of the Cheyenne metropolitan statistical area which encompasses all of Laramie County and had 100,512 residents as of the 2020 census. Eric Barlow (born May 8, 1966) is an American politician current serving as the Speaker of the Wyoming House of Representatives since January 12, 2021 and a Republican member of the chamber representing District 3 since January 8, 2013. The Libertarian Party of Wyoming (LPWY) is the affiliate of the Libertarian Party (LP) in Wyoming, headquartered in Riverton. it is the third-largest political party in Wyoming by voter registration.
