Wyoming Libertarian Party
The Libertarian Party of Wyoming (LPWY) is the affiliate of the Libertarian Party (LP) in Wyoming, headquartered in Riverton. it is the third-largest political party in Wyoming by voter registration. History 1970s On July 26, 1976, the Libertarians started a petition drive so that their presidential candidate, Roger MacBride, could appear on the ballot. They were unsuccessful in gathering at least 6,300 signatures by September 28, but MacBride received 89 write-in votes (0.1%) in the general election. 1980s On August 11, 1980, the Libertarians started a petition drive so that their presidential candidate, Ed Clark, could appear on the ballot. Around 11,000 signatures were collected and on September 18, the Secretary of State certified 6,522 of the signatures, which was more than the 6,469 required, allowing Clark to appear on the ballot as an independent candidate. Ed Clark
Edward E. Clark (born May 4, 1930) is an American lawyer and politician who ran for governor of California in 1978, and for president of the United States as the nominee of the Libertarian Party in the 1980 presidential election. Clark is an honors graduate of Tabor Academy, Dartmouth College, and received a J.D. degree from Harvard Law School. Formerly a liberal Republican, he joined the Libertarian Party following President Richard Nixon's imposition of wage and price controls in 1971. 1978 California gubernatorial campaign In 1978, Clark received some 377,960 votes, 5.5% of the popular vote, in a race for governor of California. Marshall Burt
Marshall A. Burt (born May 6, 1976) is an American politician who served in the Wyoming House of Representatives. A member of the Libertarian Party, Burt represented the 39th district from 2021 to 2023. Burt is the first Libertarian candidate to be elected to a state legislature since Steve Vaillancourt in 2000, and the first third-party candidate elected to the Wyoming Legislature in over 100 years. Burt was defeated by Republican Cody Wylie in the 2022 Wyoming House of Representatives election. Early life and career Burt was born in Rochester, Minnesota. David Miller (Wyoming Politician)
David R. Miller (born 29 January 1953) is an American politician and former Wyoming state legislator. He was born in Chillicothe, Missouri. A member of the Republican Party, Miller represented the 55th district in the Wyoming House of Representatives from 2001 to 2021. Elections In 2012 Miller was unopposed in the August 21, 2012 Republican primary, winning with 1,321 votes, and won the three-way November 6, 2012 general election with 2,374 votes (56.1%) against Democratic nominee Sherry Shelley and Libertarian candidate Bethany Baldes. Wyoming House Of Representatives
The Wyoming House of Representatives is the lower house of the Wyoming State Legislature. There are 60 Representatives in the House, representing an equal number of single-member constituent districts across the state, each with a population of at least 9,000. The House convenes at the Wyoming State Capitol in Cheyenne. Members of the House serve two year terms without term limits. Term limits were declared unconstitutional by the Wyoming Supreme Court in 2004, overturning a decade-old law that had restricted Representatives to six terms (twelve years). The Wyoming Secretary of State election of 2014 took place on November 4, 2014. The incumbent Secretary of State, Max Maxfield, chose not to run for reelection. Andre Verne Marrou (; born December 4, 1938) is an American politician who was the third Libertarian elected to a state legislature with his election to the Alaska House of Representatives in 1984.
