George Thomas Maris (born 6 March 1996) is an English professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for League Two club Mansfield Town. Career Maris began his career at Barnsley at under-15 level, signing his first professional contract on 29 May 2014 after a 20-goal season for the under-18s. On 30 January 2015, he went on a one-month youth loan to Nuneaton Town in the Conference Premier. He started on his senior debut the following day, in a 1–0 loss at Forest Green Rovers. Simon Maris
Simon Willem Maris (May 21, 1873 – January 22, 1935) was a Dutch painter best known as a portrait artist. He was the son of Dutch landscape painter Willem Maris of the Hague School. Life and work He was born in The Hague. Simon Maris was a student of his father Willem Maris and subsequently studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague and at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Arts of Antwerp. He then spent some time in Brussels and made study trips to Paris and Italy. In 1900 he settled in Amsterdam. In 1903 he traveled with his friend Piet Mondriaan for a few months to Spain. Together with Mondrian and Arnold Marc Gorter he would regularly paint in the following years on the Gein River, where he also drew Mondrian's portrait in 1906. Hyllus Noel Maris (25 December 1933 – 4 August 1986 ) was an Aboriginal Australian activist, poet and educator. Maris was a Yorta Yorta woman. She was a key figure in the Aboriginal rights movement of the 1970s and 1980s, a poet, an educator and an award-winning scriptwriter. Early life Hyllus Noel Maris was born on 25 December 1933 in Echuca, Victoria, and identified as a Yorta Yorta woman. Her mother, Geraldine Briggs, née Clements, was a Yorta Yorta and Wiradjuri woman. Her father, Selwyn Briggs, was a Wurundjeri and Yorta Yorta man. Both of her parents were prominent community activists; Maris was the third of their nine children.
