This is a list of bus interchanges or terminals that are part of Singapore's bus system. This list does not include bus stops. Bus terminals and interchanges serve as important nodes in the transport system as bus services start and end at these stations. Those decommissioned due to geographical retention or the introduction of new town centres, or creation of consolidated transportation hubs are mentioned at List of former bus stations in Singapore. Overview In the 1970s with the formation of Singapore Bus Service (SBS), the terminals of private companies were inherited by SBS. Many of these terminals were makeshift constructions without adequate facilities. The SBS embarked on a terminal improvement programme to build facilities such more parking space, timekeeper's booths, rest areas for bus crew members, proper platforms with adequate shelter, toilets and food facilities. Ang Mo Kio MRT Station
Ang Mo Kio MRT station is an above-ground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the North South Line in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore. Located at the junction of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8, beside Ang Mo Kio Town Garden East, the station is connected to AMK Hub, Ang Mo Kio Bus Interchange and the Ang Mo Kio Town Centre via an underground walkway. Opened on 7 November 1987, Ang Mo Kio station is one of the five stations that collectively make up Singapore's oldest MRT stations. Transit Systems Group is an Australian-based public transport company, which also operates overseas through its subsidiary Tower Transit Group. Transit Systems Group is a subsidiary of the Kelsian Group, formerly SeaLink Travel Group. History In the 1980s and early 1990s, Lance Francis, Graham Leishman and Neil Smith together operated Bayside Buslines in Brisbane, Peninsula Bus Lines on the New South Wales Central Coast and Sunliner Express on the east coast. Tower Transit Singapore
Tower Transit Singapore is a contracted bus operator operating in Singapore. It commenced operations on 29 May 2016 and it is a subsidiary of Transit Systems. History In October 2014, the Land Transport Authority called for tenders to operate 26 routes out of Bulim Bus Depot in Jurong West based from Bukit Batok, Clementi and Jurong East bus interchanges as part of its new Bus Contracting Model. Bukit Batok
Bukit Batok, often abbreviated as Bt Batok, is a planning area and matured residential town located along the eastern boundary of the West Region of Singapore. Bukit Batok statistically ranks in as the 25th largest, the 12th most populous and the 11th most densely populated planning area in the Republic. It is bordered by six other planning areas - Choa Chu Kang to the North, northeast and northwest, Cashew to the northeast and east, Clementi to the south, Bukit Timah to the southeast, Jurong East to the southwest and Tengah to the west. Bukit Batok largely sits on Gombak norite, a geological formation that is found in high concentrations within the planning area itself, as well as in the western parts of neighbouring Cashew. Bukit Batok Bus Interchange
Bukit Batok Bus Interchange is an interchange bus station located at Block 631 Bukit Batok Central, Singapore, near West Mall Shopping Centre and Bukit Batok MRT station. The sheltered concourse is built underneath a multi-storey carpark similar in design to the old Serangoon Interchange. The interchange has two vehicular concourse areas, North and South. The North concourse features five sawtooth berths, two of which are used for alighting and the remaining three for boarding, with queuing lanes installed. Buses park at a bus park opposite the passenger concourse, and separate ingress and egress lanes lead to Bukit Batok Central. The South concourse features fifteen end-on berths, which are shared among five bus services. Two end-on berths are reserved for wheelchair boarding and alighting. Boon Lay MRT Station
Boon Lay MRT station is an above-ground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the East West line in Jurong West, Singapore. Located in Jurong West Central, Boon Lay station is one of the three stations that serve Jurong West New Town; the other two are Lakeside MRT station and Pioneer MRT station. Together with Boon Lay Bus Interchange and Jurong Point Shopping Mall, they form the Boon Lay Integrated Public Transport Hub. The station was the western terminus of the East West line prior to the opening of Joo Koon MRT station in 2009. Boon Lay station is proposed to become an interchange with the Jurong Region line, which is slated for completion in 2027. Jurong West is a planning area and residential town located in the West Region of Singapore. Jurong West shares boundaries with Tengah in the north, Jurong East in the east, Boon Lay and Pioneer in the south, and Western Water Catchment in the west. Originally a forested area, Jurong West is undergoing rapid development under the ambition of the Housing and Development Board (HDB) to transform it into a fully mature housing estate. Boon Lay Bus Interchange
Boon Lay Bus Interchange is an air-conditioned bus interchange located in Jurong West Central, in the western part of Singapore. It is situated within Jurong Point and integrated with the nearby Boon Lay MRT station. This interchange serves a variety of passengers, including those from Nanyang Technological University, Jurong Industrial Estate and Tuas Industrial Estate. The interchange has been among the largest and busiest bus interchanges in Singapore, handling 31 services in the past until a few services were amended to the newer Joo Koon Bus Interchange in 2015. Bishan MRT Station
Bishan MRT station is a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) interchange station on the North South (NSL) and Circle (CCL) lines in Bishan, Singapore. Located along Bishan Road within the town centre area, it is integrated with the Junction 8 shopping centre and close to the Bishan Bus Interchange. Nearby schools include Raffles Institution, Catholic High School and the Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Primary and Secondary Schools. Initially announced as Kampung San Teng, it was renamed San Teng and subsequently Bishan. Opened on 7 November 1987, Bishan NSL station was one of the first five stations on the MRT network. During the construction of the CCL station, the original island platform of the NSL was split into two separate side platforms and the station was upgraded to cope with increased passenger traffic from the CCL, which opened on 28 May 2009. Bishan (), also known as either Bishan New Town or Bishan Town, is a planning area and matured residential town located at the northernmost portion of the Central Region of Singapore. Statistically, the area is ranked the 38th biggest in terms of geographical size and the 22nd most populated planning area in the country. It is located at the most Central point of Singapore, and it comprises Upper Thomson, Marymount, Shunfu, Sin Ming, Bishan North and Bishan East. Bishan Bus Interchange
The Bishan Bus Interchange is a bus interchange serving Bishan, Singapore. The interchange commenced passenger service as Bishan Bus Terminal in 1988, with Services 56 and 58. Located at Bishan Street 13, it is designed in a unique squarish configuration with the building wrapping around the bus parking area. The Ministry of Education Language Centre (MOELC) lies across the field to the north. Passengers also able to transfer to the Circle line from an entrance located right outside the interchange. History Bishan Bus Interchange opened on 30 April 1989. Built at a cost of SGD$5.5 million, it replaced the temporary bus station that had been serving the new town of Bishan since December 1985.
