Marie Von Keudell
Marie von Keudell (1838–1918) was a German painter known for her landscape painting. Biography Keudell was born on 16 July 1838 in Launicken, East Prussia. She studied with , and Otto von Kameke in Berlin. Keudell exhibited her work at the Woman's Building at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois. She also served as the chairwoman of the Art Commission of the German Art Department "Women" for the Exposition. Keudell was a member of the Verein der Berliner Künstlerinnen (Association of Berlin Artists) from 1867 to 1916. She exhibited her paintings at the Große Berliner Kunstausstellung (Great Berlin Art Exhibitions) between 1893 and 1912. Keudell was a friend of fellow landscape painter Paula Bonte, with whom she shared a studio. Otto Von Kameke
Otto Werner Henning von Kameke (2 February 1826, Stolp - 8 June 1899, Berlin) was a German painter, a Hauptmann in the Prussian Army and a Knight in the Order of Saint John. He specialized in mountain landscapes. Biography He was born into an old Pomeranian family and was the son of Rittmeister Albert von Kameke (1795–1860), who was also a Squire of Egsow and Kummerzin. Initially, he followed his father into a military career. In 1859, he married Valeska (Wally) von Ferentheil und Gruppenberg (1836-1914), daughter of Oberst Richard von Ferentheil und Gruppenberg, who was also a Squire in Leonhardwitz and Kammelwitz. He was already a Hauptmann when, in 1860, he decided to change careers and become an artist. After resigning his commission, he went to Italy, in the vicinity of Rome, where he spent two years studying nature. He then enrolled at the Grand-Ducal Saxon Art School, Weimar. The Verein der Berliner Künstlerinnen (English: Association of Berlin Artists) is the oldest existing association of women artists in Germany. It maintains the ''archive Verein der Berliner Künstlerinnen 1867 e. V.,'' publishes club announcements and catalogues, and every two years awards the Marianne Werefkin Prize to contemporary female artists. It thus cultivates cultural memory and promotes the current developments of contemporary artists. The 2007 award winner was the sculptor Paloma Varga Weisz.
