Mariager Municipality
Until 1 January 2007 Mariager municipality was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Aarhus County on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 201 km², and had a total population of 8,300 (2005). Its last mayor was Erik Kirkegaard Mikkelsen, a member of the Conservative People's Party (''Det Konservative Folkeparti'') political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Mariager. Mariager municipality ceased to exist as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). Part of it was merged with existing Arden, Hadsund, and Hobro municipalities to form the new Mariagerfjord municipality. This created a municipality with an area of 769 km² and a total population of 43,049 (2005) belonging to Region Nordjylland ("North Jutland Region"). Danish Language
Danish (; , ) is a North Germanic language spoken by about six million people, principally in and around Denmark. Communities of Danish speakers are also found in Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and the northern German region of Southern Schleswig, where it has minority language status. The Conservative People's Party ( da, Det Konservative Folkeparti, DKF), also known as The Conservatives () is a conservative centre-right political party in Denmark. Arden municipality was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in North Jutland County on the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark until 1 January 2007. The municipality covered an area of 228 km2, and had a total population of 8,513 (2005). Its last mayor was Hans Christian Maarup, a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Arden. Hobro () is an old market and railway town in Region Nordjylland on the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark. It has a population of 12,071 (1 January 2022). The town is situated in a hilly terrain at the head of Mariager Fjord, close to the former Viking fortress of Fyrkat. It is the seat of Mariagerfjord municipality. Mariagerfjord is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in North Jutland Region in Denmark. It covers an area of 723.63 km² (2011) and a has a population of 42,093 (2014). On 1 January 2007 Mariagerfjord municipality was created as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), consisting of the former municipalities of Arden, Hadsund and Hobro, and the major part of Mariager, and a very small part of Aalestrup and a very small part of Nørager municipality.
