Maria Do Valle Ribeiro
Maria do Valle Ribeiro or Maria Ribeiro (born in Portugal) is a United Nations diplomat. On 8 November 2016 she was appointed as the United Nations Deputy Special Representative and Deputy Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL). Education Do Valle Ribeiro graduated from the University of Wales with a Master of Science in economic development policy and planning. Career Do Valle Ribeiro has held many positions as a United Nations representative. She was the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Angola. She was later the United Nations Deputy Special Representative in Guinea-Bissau. From 2008 to 2010 she was the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Mauritania. She has held several positions with UNICEF in Africa, Guyana, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago. 2019 Western Libya Offensive
The Western Libya campaign was a military campaign initiated on 4 April 2019 by the Operation Flood of Dignity ( ar, عملية طوفان الكرامة) of the Libyan National Army, which represents the Libyan House of Representatives, to capture the western region of Libya and eventually the capital Tripoli held by the United Nations Security Council-recognised Government of National Accord. The Government of National Accord regained control over all of Tripoli in June 2020 and the LNA forces withdrew from the capital, after fourteen months of fighting. The Great Man-Made River (GMMR, ) is a network of pipes that supplies fresh water obtained from the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System fossil aquifer across Libya. It is the world's largest irrigation project. The project utilizes a pipeline system that pumps water from the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System from down south in Libya to cities in the populous Libyan northern Mediterranean coast including Tripoli and Benghazi.
