Chernobyl
Chernobyl ( , ; russian: Чернобыль, ) or Chornobyl ( uk, Чорнобиль, ) is a partially abandoned city in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, situated in the Vyshhorod Raion of northern Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine. Yampil, Khmelnytskyi Oblast
Yampil or Yampol ( uk, Ямпіль; russian: Ямполь; yi, יאמפאלא) is an urban-type settlement in Shepetivka Raion of Khmelnytskyi Oblast, in the Volyn region of western Ukraine. It is located 25 miles SE of Kremenets. Yampil hosts the administration of Yampil settlement hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Population: Until 18 July 2020, Yampil belonged to Bilohiria Raion. The raion was abolished in July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Khmelnytskyi Oblast to three. Pidhirtsi ( uk, Підгірці; pl, Podhorce) is a village of about 1,000 inhabitants in Zolochiv Raion, Lviv Oblast of Ukraine, located about 80 km east of Lviv, 17 km south of Brody, 60 km north west of Ternopil, at around . It belongs to Zabolottsi rural hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Known both for its castle and Basilian monastery of the Annunciation with an icon of the Mother of God. Although founded near a large Early Slavic gord, the first written mention of a fortified Ruthenian settlement, then called Plisnensk, comes from 1188 and 1233, found in chronicles from Kiev and Halych-Volhynia as well as in the Tale of Igor's Campaign. The first Basilian monastery is recorded to have been founded by a princess named Helen in 1180. In the 15th century it is referred to by the present day name and in 1440 granted by king Ladislaus III of Poland to its tenant, the Podhorecki noble family. Count Jan Mikołaj Chodkiewicz (14 December 1738, Gdańsk - 2 February 1781, Chernobyl) was the Starost of Żmudź and Wielona; Count of Szkłów and . Biography His father, , was the Voivode of Brest-Litovsk. In 1757, after completing his studies at Vilnius University, he was appointed a Colonel to His Majesty. From 1758 to 1759, he fought in the Seven Years' War on the side of France. In 1764, he became a Colonel and Counselor in the new Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. He was also elected to the Convocation Sejm, representing the Księstwo żmudzkie, and was an Elector for Stanisław August Poniatowski.
