Marcus Solomon
Marcus Solomon is an Australian jurist and rabbi who currently serves as a justice of the Supreme Court of Western Australia. He is the first Orthodox Judaism, Orthodox rabbi to serve as a Supreme Court justice in Australia. Biography Solomon grew up in Perth. His father Jeffrey was the president of Newcastle synagogue. While in high school, he was sent to attend Yeshivah College, Australia, Yeshivah College in Melbourne for 11th and 12th grade. He then studied at the Yeshivah Gedolah Zal, Rabbinical College of Australia and New Zealand before moving to Israel to study at the Tomchei Tmimim yeshiva in Kfar Chabad. He then went to New York City to study at the Tomchei Tmimim yeshiva in Brooklyn, where he was ordained as a rabbi. After returning to Australia, he began teaching in a Jewish day school and studying at university, initially taking education, arts, philosophy, and politics classes before going to law school. Kfar Chabad ( he, כְּפַר חַבָּ"ד, ''lit.'' "Chabad Village") is a Chabad-Lubavitch village in central Israel. Between Beit Dagan and Lod, it falls under the jurisdiction of Sdot Dan Regional Council. Tomchei Tmimim ( he, תומכי תמימים, "supporters of the complete-wholesome ones") is the central Yeshiva (Talmudical academy) of the Chabad-Lubavitch Hasidic movement. A rabbi () is a spiritual leader or religious teacher in Judaism. One becomes a rabbi by being ordained by another rabbi – known as '' semikha'' – following a course of study of Jewish history and texts such as the Talmud.
