Marco Ricci
Marco Ricci (6 June 1676 – 21 January 1730) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period. Early years He was born at Belluno and received his first instruction in art from his uncle, Sebastiano Ricci, likely in Milan in 1694–6.Giacometti, Margherita. Nicola Francesco Haym
Nicola Francesco Haym (6 July 1678 – 31 July 1729) was an Italian opera librettist, composer, theatre manager and performer, literary editor and numismatist. He is best remembered for adapting texts into libretti for the London operas of George Frideric Handel and Giovanni Bononcini. Libretti that he provided for Handel included those for ''Giulio Cesare'', ''Ottone'', ''Flavio'', ''Tamerlano'', '' Rodelinda'', and several others; for Bononcini, he produced two, ''Calfurnia'' and ''Astianatte''. Compositions Haym was born in Rome. His career began as a cellist in Italy, and he arrived in London in 1701: he swiftly became master of the 2nd Duke of Bedford's chamber music. He wrote the libretto for Bononcini's '' Camilla'', a seminal work of enormous success that did much to establish Italian opera in London. The Gallerie dell'Accademia is a museum gallery of pre-19th-century art in Venice, northern Italy. Giuseppe Valeriani
Giuseppe Valeriani (Russian: Джузеппе Валериани; c. 1708, Rome 1761/62, Saint Petersburg) was an Italian-born Russian artist who primarily painted murals and stage scenery. Biography He and his brother Domenico initially studied with Marco Ricci in Venice. After Ricci's death, he obtained an apprenticeship with the decorative painter, Girolamo Bon (c. 1700-1766). Bon and his new wife Rosa (a comic opera singer) went to Saint Petersburg in 1735, where he had been offered work as a scenic designer. In 1742, Bon invited two of his former students, Valeriani and Antonio Peresinotti, to join him there. Count Anton oMaria Zanetti (1689–1767) was a Venetian artist, engraver, art critic, art dealer and connoisseur. He formed a collection of engraved gems, of which he published a lavish catalogue. Life Zanetti spent his early manhood making wise investments in marine insurance, accumulating sufficient capital to support his true vocation, as a writer and artist, and as an art dealer, doing much of his business with the English aristocrats who passed through Venice on the Grand Tour. Joseph Smith (c. 1682 – Venice, 6 November 1770), often known as Consul Smith, was the British consul at Venice from 1744 to 1760. Charles Howard was the eldest son of Edward Howard, 2nd Earl of Carlisle, and inherited his title on the death of his father in 1692. In painting, a capriccio (, plural: ''capricci'' ; in older English works often anglicized as "caprice") means an Architecture, architectural fantasy, placing together buildings, Archaeology, archaeological ruins and other architectural elements in fictional and often fantastical combinations. These paintings may also include staffage (figures). Capriccio falls under the more general term of landscape painting. This style of painting was introduced in the Renaissance art, Renaissance and continued into the Baroque art, Baroque. By the late 18th century the term, had expanded to mean any image with an equivalent degree of fantasy, for example as used in the titles of print series by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo and Goya, both of which focus on figures rather than architecture. Burlington House
Burlington House is a building on Piccadilly in Mayfair, London. It was originally a private Neo-Palladian mansion owned by the Earls of Burlington and was expanded in the mid-19th century after being purchased by the British government. Today, the Royal Academy and five learned societies occupy much of the building. History The house was one of the earliest of a number of very large private residences built on the north side of Piccadilly, previously a country lane, from the 1660s onwards. The first version was begun by Sir John Denham in about 1664. It was a red-brick double-pile hip-roofed mansion with a recessed centre, typical of the style of the time, or perhaps even a little old fashioned.
