Marcel Coal Mine
The Marcel coal mine is a large mine in the south of Poland in Radlin near Wodzisław Śląski, Silesian Voivodeship, 260 km south-west of the capital, Warsaw. Until 1949 it was called "Emma". In 1995 KWK Marcel was connected with 1 Maja Coal Mine. Having estimated reserves of 76 million tonnes of coal near Marklowice and Wodzisław Śląski. Radlin, Silesian Voivodeship
Radlin is a town in Wodzisław County, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland, with 17,776 inhabitants (2019). Located in southern part of the Voivodeship, close to the Czech border, between 1975 and 1997, Radlin was a district of the city of Wodzisław Śląski. History First mention of the settlement of ''Biertułtowy'' (which now makes the center of Radlin) comes from 1305, as ''Bertholdi villa''. The very name Radlin probably comes from the Polish word ''radło'', which means ard. In the 19th century, Radlin was one of the biggest villages of the Rybnik County of the Kingdom of Prussia. The 1 Maja coal mine (''Coal Mine 1st May''; pol. ''Kopalnia Węgla Kamiennego 1 Maja'') was a large mine in the south of Poland in Wodzisław Śląski, Silesian Voivodeship, 260 km south-west of the capital, Warsaw. Built in 1960, it was called "Mszana". Since 1961 it was called 1 Maja (1 May), in honor of International Workers' Day. It was one of the most modern and best coal mines in the Polish People's Republic. It was combined with Marcel Coal Mine in 1995. It closed in 2001. Marklowice
Marklowice is a village in Wodzisław County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Marklowice. It lies approximately east of Wodzisław Śląski and south-west of the regional capital Katowice. Between 1975 and 1994 Marklowice was part of the town Wodzisław Śląski.
