Marar (tribe)
The Marar (singular Al Marri) is a tribe of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a subsection of the Bani Yas. The Marar are traditionally Hinawi, Mailiki Sunnis and formed part of the tribal confederation brought together by Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, 'Zayed the Great', of Abu Dhabi. In 1890, under Zayed, the Marar and Manasir tribes were involved in a series of raids on the coast between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, capturing 400 camels and 100 horses. The Marar had also settled in Dubai and under Sheikh Rashid bin Maktoum of Dubai, in 1891, some 400 men of the Marar, considering themselves ill-treated by Rashid, ended the pearling season by sailing their boats to Sharjah and subsequently settling there. This action led to three years of bitter negotiations, arbitrated by the British Resident, settling financial claims and counter claims which led to a number of further conflicts on land. Al Murar ( ar, المرر), commonly called Freej Al Murar ( ar, فريج المرر), is a locality in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Al Murar is located in eastern Dubai in Deira and is bordered by the Deira Corniche in the north, Naif in the south, Ayil Nasir to the west and Al Baraha to the east. Deira (In Arabic: ديرة) is a historically significant district within the city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates bordered by the Persian Gulf, Sharjah and Al Awir. It is located at the northern end of the Dubai Creek. History Deira is one of the oldest and most established areas of Dubai, its origins date back to the mid-1700s, it developed along the canal called Dubai Creek, this saltwater canal separates Deira from Bur Dubai. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum ( ar, محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم, links=no; ; born 15 July 1949) is the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, vice president, prime minister, and minister of defence of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as well as the ruler of Dubai. Hamdan Bin Zayed Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan
Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan was the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, one of the Trucial States which today form the United Arab Emirates (UAE), from 1912–1922. Accession He was the second son of Zayed I to rule Abu Dhabi and acceded on his elder brother Tahnoun's peaceful death. Zayed's eldest son, Khalifa, did not want to rule and so Hamdan, actually Zayed's fifth son (the fourth, Saqr, was to rule following the death of Hamdan's younger brother and successor, Sultan) took up the reins. Liwa Oasis
The Liwa Oasis ( ar, وَاحَـة لِـيْـوَا, Wāḥḥat Līwā) is a large oasis area in the Western Region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates. Geography Liwa Oasis is about south of the Persian Gulf coast and southwest of the city of Abu Dhabi, on the northern edge of Rub' al Khali desert. It is centered around and stretches about east-west, along an arch curved to the north. It consists of some 50 villages. Bani Yas ( ar, بَنُو ياس) is a tribal confederation of Najdi origin in the United Arab Emirates. The tribal coalition which consists of tribes from Dubai to Khawr al Udayd southeast of Qatar, was called the Bani Yas Coalition. The tribe has been led by their rulers, the Al Nahyan, who had their headquarters in Al Dhafra and now in Abu Dhabi.
