The Mapinduzi Cup is a top knockout football tournament in Zanzibar. Mapinduzi meaning Revolution in recognition of the Zanzibar Revolution. The Mapinduzi Cup is a tournament created by the Zanzibar Football Federation to commemorate Zanzibar's Revolution day which is marked annually on 12 January. Zanzibar (; ; ) is an insular semi-autonomous province which united with Tanganyika in 1964 to form the United Republic of Tanzania. Zanzibar Revolution
The Zanzibar Revolution () occurred in January 1964 and led to the overthrow of the Sultan of Zanzibar and his mainly Arab government by local Africans. Zanzibar was an ethnically diverse state consisting of a number of islands off the east coast of Tanganyika, which had been granted independence by Britain in 1963. In a series of parliamentary elections preceding independence, the Arab minority succeeded in retaining the hold on power it had inherited from Zanzibar's former existence as an overseas territory of Oman. Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club is a Ugandan football team based in Kampala. The club plays in the Ugandan Premier League and was founded in 1997. They have won the Ugandan Premier League four times and the Uganda Cup three times. History URA merged with Lyantonde FC in 2001. URA had been excluded from the Western League. Lyantonde, cup finalists in 2000, did not raise enough money to continue playing in the Buganda Super mini-league. The Tusker Football Club is a professional football club based in Nairobi, Kenya. It is the second most successful club in Kenya with thirteen Kenyan league championships. They also have four Kenyan cup titles. In addition, it has won four East African CECAFA Clubs Cup titles.
