Manzoor Nadir
Manzoor Nadir (14 November 1955) is a Guyanese politician and Speaker of the National Assembly. Nadir was the Guyanese Minister of Labour and party leader of The United Force between 2001 and 2011. Biography Mazoon Nadir was born in Albouystown, Georgetown on 14 November 1955. He holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Manchester, and the Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta. Nadir is an economist by profession. Nadir was first elected to the National Assembly in 1992. Nadir served as the Minister of Labour from 2001 until 2011. Lenox Ron O'Dell Shuman (born 13 September 1973) is a Guyanese politician who has served as Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Guyana since 2 September 2020. The National Assembly is one of the two components of the Parliament of Guyana. Under Article 51 of the Constitution of Guyana, the Parliament of Guyana consists of the President and the National Assembly. The National Assembly has 65 members elected using the system of proportional representation. British Guiana
British Guiana was a British colony, part of the mainland British West Indies, which resides on the northern coast of South America. Since 1966 it has been known as the independent nation of Guyana. The first European to encounter Guiana was Sir Walter Raleigh, an English explorer. The Dutch were the first Europeans to settle there, starting in the early 17th century, when they founded the colonies of Essequibo and Berbice, adding Demerara in the mid-18th century. In 1796, Great Britain took over these three colonies during hostilities with the French, who had occupied the Netherlands.
