Manuel Martins (visual Artist)
Manuel Joaquim Martins, usually known as Manuel Martins (October 24, 1911 – 1979) was a Brazilian artist that worked with painting, illustration, drawing, engraving, sculpture and embroidery. Martins was born and died in São Paulo. The son of Portuguese immigrants, he grew up in the industrial suburb of Brás. In 1924, he started to work in embroidery. Started in 1931 artistic studies with the sculptor Vicente Larocca. Then he watched classes in '' Escola de Belas Artes de São Paulo''. He joined the Santa Helena Group in 1935. The group included Alfredo Volpi, Francisco Rebolo and Fulvio Pennacchi, among others. He shared atelier with Mario Zanini. Alfredo Volpi
Alfredo Volpi (April 14, 1896 – May 28, 1988), was a prominent painter of the artistic and cultural Brazilian modernist movement. He was born in Lucca, Italy but, less than two years later, he was brought by his parents to São Paulo, Brazil, became a Brazilian citizen, and lived for the majority of his life. He was one of the most important artists of the so-called Grupo Santa Helena, formed in the 1930s with Francisco Rebolo, Clóvis Graciano, Mario Zanini, Fulvio Pennacchi, and others. Early period Volpi was a self-taught painter, producing his first naturalist painting in 1914 at the age of twelve. Although his first paintings could resemble, in some way, those of expressionist artists, (an early influence was the Brazilian landscape painter Ernesto de Fiori). "Família" is the seventh single by Brazilian rock band Titãs, released in 1987. The song is about the everyday issues of a family. It was once covered by Molejo on their 1998 album ''Família''. The song was featured on the Rede Manchete telenovela '' Corpo Santo''. In 2013, bass player and vocalist Nando Reis (now an ex-member) recorded a new version of the song with his sons Théo and Sebastião. The new version is being used as the opening theme of the 2013 season of Rede Globo's Malhação. While Sebastião played acoustic guitar, Nando Reis and Théo sang, sharing the same microphone, like The Beatles used to do, "in order to create a more familiar atmosphere", according to Reis. Mario Zanini
Mario Zanini, or simply Zanini (September 10, 1907 in São Paulo – August 16, 1971 in São Paulo), was a Brazilian painter and interior designer. He was born in a humble family. As a teenager he studied in the '' Escola de Belas de São Paulo'', or "School of Arts of São Paulo". He ran for the major art prizes of the country. Travelled to Europe in 1950 for studying. He was also in the first three São Paulo Art Biennials. He was part of the Grupo Santa Helena, that would be a nucleus for the ''Família Artística Paulista'', or "Artistic Family of São Paulo". What distinguishes him from the average integrants of the ''Grupo do Santa Helena'' and the ''Família Artística Paulista'' were his deep, intense colors, almost naive. Atelier
An atelier () is the private workshop or studio of a professional artist in the fine or decorative arts or an architect, where a principal master and a number of assistants, students, and apprentices can work together producing fine art or visual art released under the master's name or supervision. Ateliers were the standard vocational practice for European artists from the Middle Ages to the 19th century, and common elsewhere in the world. Fulvio Pennacchi
Fulvio Pennacchi (December 27, 1905 in Villa Collemandina – October 5, 1992 in São Paulo) was an Italian-Brazilian artist who specialized in painted murals and made ceramics. He was part of the Santa Helena Group, together with Alfredo Volpi, Francisco Rebolo, Aldo Bonadei, Alfredo Rizzotti, Mario Zanini, Humberto Rosa and others. His painting is sensitive and personal, particularly in the interpretation of major biblical themes and the lives of saints, owing to his childhood marked by a Catholic religious education. Francisco Rebolo
Francisco Rebolo Gonsales, widely known as Francisco Rebolo, or just Rebolo (August 22, 1902 in São Paulo – July 10, 1980 in São Paulo), was a Brazilian painter. He was a son of Spanish immigrants that arrived at Brasil in the end of 19th century. Biography He lived intensely two different life paths: he was a football player (soccer player, in United States terms), from 1917 a 1932. He played for Corinthians, from 1921 to 1927, and for Ypiranga after that. Both have their headquarters in São Paulo city. From 1934 on, he became a painter.
