Manuel José Ossandón Irarrázabal, colloquially "Cote Ossandón", (born Viña del Mar, Región de Valparaíso, 24 August 1962) is an agricultural technician and a senator of Chile for the 8th Senatorial District. He was elected during the parliamentarian elections of 2013, for the period 2014–2022. Member of Chilean center-right party National Renewal (Chile), Renovación Nacional (RN). He renounced in July 2016. Ossandón is actually one of the four most popular candidates for the presidential election of Chile in 2017 and was the second most voted senator of Chile during the parliamentarian elections of 2013. In 2015 he was recognized as the most prolific senator of the country. Early life Ossandón was born in Chile in Viña del Mar and raised in Pirque. Same-sex Marriage In Chile
Same-sex marriage in Chile has been legal since 10 March 2022. In June 2021, the President of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, announced that his government would sponsor a bill to legalize same-sex marriage. The Senate of Chile passed the legislation on 21 July 2021, and the Chamber of Deputies gave its approval on 23 November 2021. Disagreements on some aspects of the bill led to the formation of a mixed commission to discuss it. Both chambers of the National Congress approved an identical version of the bill on 7 December 2021. President Piñera signed the legislation into law on 9 December, and it was published in the ''Diario Oficial de la República de Chile'' on 10 December. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious disease caused by a virus, the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
