Manuel De La Rocha Rubí
Manuel de la Rocha Rubí (born 1947) is a Spanish politician of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE). A member of the 1st and 2nd terms of the Assembly of Madrid as well as of the 5th, 9th and 10th Congress of Deputies, he has served as Mayor of Fuenlabrada from 1979 to 1983 and as Minister of Education and Youth of the Community of Madrid from 1983 to 1985. Biography Born on 18 December 1947 in Madrid, he graduated in Law. Linked to Christian movements and organizations, he affiliated to the then clandestine PSOE and Unión General de Trabajadores (UGT) in 1972. A professor of law in the Complutense University of Madrid, he left the post to run in the 1979 municipal election in Fuenlabrada. 1993 Spanish General Election
The 1993 Spanish general election was held on Sunday, 6 June 1993, to elect the 5th Cortes Generales of the Kingdom of Spain. All 350 seats in the Congress of Deputies were up for election, as well as 208 of 256 seats in the Senate. The Spanish Socialist Workers' Party under Felipe González achieved the largest number of votes and seats for the fourth consecutive time, though it lost the absolute majority it had held in both chambers of the Cortes since 1982. In contrast, José María Aznar's People's Party won a large share of the vote, thus increasing their seats in both the Congress and the Senate and consolidating its position as the main opposition party. ''El Mundo'' (; ), before ''El Mundo del Siglo Veintiuno'', is the second largest printed daily newspaper in Spain. 2011 Spanish General Election
The 2011 Spanish general election was held on Sunday, 20 November 2011, to elect the 10th Cortes Generales of the Kingdom of Spain. All 350 seats in the Congress of Deputies were up for election, as well as 208 of 266 seats in the Senate. An election had not been due until April 2012 at latest, but a call by Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero for a snap election five months ahead of schedule was announced on 29 July 2011. The People's Party ( es, Partido Popular ; known mostly by its acronym, PP ) is a conservative and Christian-democratic political party in Spain. The People's Party was a 1989 re-foundation of People's Alliance (AP), a party led by former minister of the dictatorship Manuel Fraga and founded back in 1976 as alliance of post-Francoist proto-parties.
