Provincial Road 482 (PR 482) is provincial road in the far western part of the Canadian province of Manitoba. Route description Provincial Road 482 is a north-south route and runs from the PTH 83 near Inglis to its terminus with PTH 5 and Hwy 10 just east of the Saskatchewan border. The northern terminus also serves as the westbound/eastbound terminuses for both PTH 5 and Hwy 10. The route provides direct access to Lake of the Prairies and Asessippi Provincial Park. From PTH 83, PR 482 travels in an east-west direction for approximately before meeting westbound PR 549. From PR 549, the road turns north and slightly east for before descending into the Shell Valley and the entrance to Asessippi Provincial Park. Provincial Trunk Highway 5 (PTH 5) is a provincial primary highway located in the Canadian province of Manitoba. The highway starts at the Hansboro–Cartwright Border Crossing on the Canada–United States border and ends at the Saskatchewan boundary west of Roblin. Besides Roblin, it passes through the communities of Cartwright, Glenboro, Carberry, Neepawa, McCreary, Ste. Rose Du Lac, Grandview, and Gilbert Plains along its route. The highway, in a section concurrent with PTH 10, bypasses the City of Dauphin. (PTH 5A / 10A does run through Dauphin.) The segment of PTH 5 between PTH 10 and Ste. Highway 10 is a provincial paved undivided highway in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It runs from Highway 1 near Balgonie until it transitions into PTH 5 at the Manitoba border. Highway 10 is about long. It passes through Fort Qu'Appelle, Balcarres, Melville, and Yorkton. It intersects Highway 1 and Highway 16. The highway is a component of Canada's National Highway System. Shellmouth Reservoir
The Shellmouth Reservoir (also known as Lake of the Prairies) is a man-made reservoir on the Assiniboine River in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, Canada. The Shellmouth Dam () is a multi-purpose, embankment dam built by the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration (PFRA). The dam and reservoir are part of a strategy to reduce the risk of flood damage for Winnipeg and other communities along the Assiniboine River. For example, in the 1997 Red River flood, the inflow to the reservoir peaked at while the outflow never exceeded . The reservoir is also used to supplement flows on the Assiniboine when conditions are dry, ensuring water supply for Brandon, Portage la Prairie, irrigators, and some industries. For example in early August, 2021 the flow in Brandon was a little over 9 cms while the outflow from Shellmouth was 5.7 cms and inflow was less than 0.5 cms. Asessippi Provincial Park is a provincial park in the Rural Municipality of Riding Mountain West, Manitoba, Canada. It is located near Inglis, Manitoba, about west of Dauphin, and is in size. A campground on the south shore of the Shellmouth Reservoir has serviced and un-serviced sites as well as a group-use area. Asessippi Ski Resort is also in the area. The park is considered to be a Class III protected area under the IUCN protected area management categories, and was designated a provincial park by the Government of Manitoba on 9 April 1964. History Asessippi Park was established as part of the creation of the Shellmouth Dam and its reservoir, the Lake of the Prairies.
