Togo (Canada 2016 Census, 2016 population: ) is a village in the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of Saskatchewan within the Rural Municipality of Cote No. 271 and Division No. 9, Saskatchewan, Census Division No. 9. It is west of the Manitoba border and approximately northeast of the City of Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Yorkton. In 1906, during the Russo-Japanese war, two names stood out: Tōgō Heihachirō, Admiral Togo of the Japanese fleet and Admiral Makaroff of Russia. In 1906 Pelly Siding was incorporated as a village and renamed Togo after the Japanese admiral, and the next community to the east on the CNR line (5 miles) was named Makaroff, Manitoba, Makaroff (Manitoba) in honour of the Russian admiral. The Municipality of Roblin is a rural municipality (RM) in the Parkland Region of Manitoba, Canada. Roblin station is located in the municipality. History The RM was incorporated as the Municipality of Hillsburg – Roblin – Shell River on January 1, 2015 via the amalgamation of the RMs of Hillsburg and Shell River and the Town of Roblin. It was formed as a requirement of '' The Municipal Amalgamations Act'', which required that municipalities with a population less than 1,000 amalgamate with one or more neighbouring municipalities by 2015. The Government of Manitoba initiated these amalgamations in order for municipalities to meet the 1997 minimum population requirement of 1,000 to incorporate a municipality. The Manitoba government changed the name of the Municipality of Hillsburg – Roblin – Shell River to the ''Municipality of Roblin'' on March 30, 2015. Provincial Trunk Highway 83 (PTH 83) is a major north-south highway that runs in the far western region of the Canadian province of Manitoba. It travels from the North Dakota border south of Melita, north through Virden, Birtle, Russell, and Roblin to its northern terminus with PTH 10 in the town of Swan River. Along with US 83, PTH 83 is part of the longest continuously numbered north-south highway in North America with a combined distance of . Saskatchewan Highway 5
Highway 5 is a major highway in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It begins in downtown Saskatoon and runs eastward to the Manitoba border near Togo, where it becomes Provincial Road 363. The highway is approximately long. Between the early 1900s (decade) and 1976, Provincial Highway 5 was a trans-provincial highway travelling approximately in length. At this time it started at the Alberta border in Lloydminster and traveled east to the Manitoba border. In the summer of 1970, the section of highway between Lloydminster and Saskatoon was designated to be a portion of the Yellowhead Highway. This section of highway maintained the Highway 5 designation until 1976, when it was redesignated as Highway 16 to maintain the same number through the four western provinces (Manitoba followed suit the following year, redesignating its section of the Yellowhead Highway from PTH 4 to PTH 16).
