Manikkam
''Manikkam'' is a 1996 Indian Tamil-language film directed by K. V. Pandian and produced by T. Siva for Amma Creations. The film stars Rajkiran and Vanitha Vijayakumar, while Vinu Chakravarthy and Ganthimathi play supporting roles. Plot The story of “Manikkam” is based on the Tamil religious belief of yesteryear heroes, brave-hearts, warriors (“veerargal”) eventually becoming worshipped as sub-deities and believed to become “protectors” of villages. These are locally known as “kaval deivangal”, or “guardian gods”. Manikkam (Rajkiran) is a protector (kaaval) of many local villages, but he resides at a village in Vadipatti. Manikkam is believed to get the “arul vakku” from the local Neethi Amman kovil and operates accordingly. Meanwhile, local villagers are terrorized by Karuvayan (Mansoor Ali Khan) and the gang from a local town called Vakkanoor. Surya Prakash (director)
Surya Prakash is an Indian film director who has worked on Tamil and Telugu language films. He made his directorial debut with ''Manikkam'' (1996), before making the action films, ''Maayi'' (2000) and '' Diwan'' (2003). Career Surya Prakash began his career by directing ''Manikkam'' (1996) featuring Rajkiran, before working on the unreleased ''Pen Ondru Kanden'' featuring Prabhu in the lead role during 1998. He later returned to make two action films featuring Sarathkumar in the early 2000s, ''Maayi'' (2000) and '' Diwan'' (2003). He also worked on ''Bharata Simha Reddy'' (2002), a Telugu film, which fetched negative reviews. J. Mohideen Abdul Khadar, known by his stage name Rajkiran, is an Indian actor, producer and director, who has acted in more than 30 Tamil films. Early life Rajkiran was born as J. Mohideen Abdul Khadar on 16 March 1959 at Keelakarai into a Muslim family. Film career Rajkiran began by producing two Ramarajan starrer films and in one of them he appeared in a brief role. Manivannan Rajagopal (31 July 1953 – 15 June 2013), better known by his mononym Manivannan, was an Indian film director, actor and activist who worked mainly in Tamil cinema and also worked in a few Telugu & Malayalam films.
