Manga
Manga ( Japanese: 漫画 ) are comics or graphic novels originating from Japan. Most manga conform to a style developed in Japan in the late 19th century, and the form has a long prehistory in earlier Japanese art. The term ''manga'' is used in Japan to refer to both comics and cartooning. Outside of Japan, the word is typically used to refer to comics originally published in the country. In Japan, people of all ages and walks of life read manga. The medium includes works in a broad range of genres: action, adventure, business and commerce, comedy, detective, drama, historical, horror, mystery, romance, science fiction and fantasy, erotica ('' hentai'' and '' ecchi''), sports and games, and suspense, among others. Del Rey Manga
Del Rey Manga was the manga-publishing imprint of Del Rey Books, a branch of Ballantine Books, which in turn is part of Random House, the publishing division of Bertelsmann. History Del Rey Manga was formed as part of a cross-publishing relationship with Japanese publisher Kodansha. Some of the Del Rey titles, such as '' Tsubasa Chronicle'' and '' xxxHolic'', are published in the United Kingdom by Tanoshimi. Tricia Narwani, the editor of Del Rey, stated that "Del Rey finds most of its talent through conventions and existing professional contacts". In October 2010, Kodansha and Random House announced that the US division of Kodansha, Kodansha USA, will take over publishing over all Del Rey Manga titles as well as their own manga, starting on December 1. Dark Horse Comics has emerged as the fourth largest comic publishing company in the United States of America. CPM Manga
Central Park Media, often abbreviated as CPM, was an American multimedia entertainment company based in New York City, New York and was headquartered in the 250 West 57th Street building in Midtown Manhattan (on the corner of Central Park, hence their name). They were one of the first companies to be active in the distribution of East Asian cinema, television series, anime, manga, and manhwa titles in North America, notably helping to make hentai popular in the region. CMX (comics)
CMX was an imprint of DC Comics, a division of Warner Bros. Entertainment. It was DC's line of manga translations. CMX was known for its censored release of '' Tenjho Tenge'' and the print version of Fred Gallagher's ''Megatokyo'' web manga series. Controversy One of CMX's initial launches was a title variously known as ''Tenjo Tenge'', ''Tenjho Tenge'', and ''Ten Ten''. When CMX released '' Tenjho Tenge'', many fans were livid that title had been edited contentwise and changed graphically to appeal to a "larger demographic"—in other words, edited to be acceptable to bookstores without shrinkwrap. ''Tenjho Tenge'' and CMX received a heavy amount of angry backlash for the edits. CMX's announcement that all changes had been overseen and specifically approved by Oh! is a Japanese media company that publishes manga, anime, video games and trading card games. It operates a chain of retailers in Japan called ''Gamers'' which carries similar products and accessories. Broccoli is best known for their ', ''Galaxy Angel'' and ''Aquarian Age'' franchises. History Satsuki Yamashita, the editor of Broccoli Books, explained that the company derived its president's desire to create a memorable name similar to that of Apple Inc. While trying to imagine of another fruit or vegetable, he arrived at broccoli. This coincidentally has the same name in nearly every language. On January 23, 2008, Broccoli announced it would be collaborating with leading industry retailer Animate to form a new company called "AniBro".
