Manfred Schaefer
Manfred Schaefer (born 12 February 1943) is a former association football defender. At club level he won titles with St. George Budapest. With the Australian national team he participated in the 1974 World Cup in his native Germany. As coach he was several times runner-up in the Australian National Soccer League with various clubs. Biography Schaefer was born in the East Prussian town of Pillau, Germany (now Baltiysk, Russia), near Königsberg (now Kaliningrad). In the dying days of World War II his family fled westward to Bremen. In 1954 the family emigrated with Manfred, by then aged 11, to Australia. Baltiysk (russian: Балти́йск; german: Pillau; Old Prussian: ''Pillawa''; pl, Piława; lt, Piliava; Yiddish: פּילאַווע, ''Pilave'') is a seaport town and the administrative center of Baltiysky District in Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia, located on the northern part of the Vistula Spit, on the shore of the Strait of Baltiysk separating the Vistula Lagoon from Gdańsk Bay. Population: Baltiysk, the westernmost town in Russia, is a major base of the Russian Navy's Baltic Fleet and is connected to St. Petersburg by ferry. Les Scheinflug
Ladislav "Les" Scheinflug (born 1 October 1938) is a former football (soccer) player and coach. Biography Arriving in Australia in the early 1950s he lived as a youth at Villawood Migrant Hostel and played for the hostel soccer team (Villawood Tigers) He was picked to play in the Southern Districts representative soccer team during these years Between November 1965 and April 1968 Scheinflug played 6 full international matches for Australia, scoring four goals. Before the 1974 World Cup he became assistant to head coach Rale Rasic of the national side. He later served himself on several occasions as head coach of the ''Socceroos'' as well as the under 17 and 20 sides. In 1979 Les Scheinflug won the Australian Championship and in 1980 the Australian Cup, both with Marconi Fairfield. In 1979, he was voted Coach of the Year by the Australian Soccer Press Association. Melbourne Knights Football Club is an Australian professional soccer club based in the suburb of Sunshine North, Melbourne. Marconi Stallions Football Club is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in Fairfield, Sydney, New South Wales. The club has been crowned Australian champion four times. The Stallions are the soccer team of Club Marconi, a social and sporting club founded in 1958 by immigrants from Italy who settled in Sydney's western suburbs. It earned promotion to the top tier of soccer in New South Wales and established itself as one of the strongest clubs in Sydney during the 1970s, before becoming a founding member of the National Soccer League in 1977.
