Rede Manchete (; lit.: Headline Network; also known as TV Manchete or only Manchete) was a Brazilian television network that was founded in Rio de Janeiro on 5 June 1983 by the Ukrainian-Brazilian journalist and businessman Adolpho Bloch. The network remained on the air until 10 May 1999. It was part of Grupo Bloch, which published the magazine ''Manchete (magazine), Manchete'' by Bloch Editores, its publishing division; the television network was named after the magazine. With sophisticated equipment and seeking an upper class schedule, Manchete was known for its programming based on journalism, covering the world and Sport in Brazil, Brazilian sport, with major sporting events. Grupo Bloch
Grupo Bloch, also known as Empresas Bloch, is a Brazilian media conglomerate, founded by Ukrainian businessman Adolpho Bloch's family after their arrival in Rio de Janeiro in 1922, when they created Joseph Bloch & Filhos company. The company, which published pamphlets and other printed material, also started to print magazines. Thus, in 1953, the company launched ''Manchete (magazine), Manchete'' magazine. With its successful launch, the publishing division of Bloch Editores was established. The group owned various Brazilian communication companies. At the end of the 1970s, the company funded the Rádio Manchete, a medium wave (AM broadcasting, AM) radio station as well as Manchete FM radio network. ''Manchete'' was a Brazilian weekly news magazine published from 1952 to 2000 by Bloch Editores. Founded by Adolpho Bloch, the magazine's name would be given to the defunct television network Rede Manchete. ''Manchete'' was considered one of the main magazines of its time, second only to ''O Cruzeiro''. The magazine was inspired by publications such as ''Paris Match'' and ''Life'', relying on photojournalism. Rede Excelsior
Rede Excelsior was a Brazilian television network founded by Mário Wallace Simonsen on July 9, 1960, in São Paulo, São Paulo. Its last broadcast happened on September 30, 1970, when the Brazilian military dictatorship put an abrupt end to it. History In 1959, the Victor Costa Organization, owner of TV Paulista, channel 5 of São Paulo (later acquired by Rede Globo), was awarded by the federal government with a second television channel in the city, channel 9. Telenovela
A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world. The significant difference is their series run length; telenovelas tell one self-contained story, typically within the span of a year or less whereas soap operas tend to have intertwined storylines told during indefinite, continuing runs. Rede Tupi (; in English, Tupi Network) was a Brazilian television network free-to-air. Its parent broadcaster, located in the city of São Paulo, was the first TV station to operate in the country, being inaugurated on 18 September 1950 by journalist Assis Chateaubriand. He belonged to Diários Associados, one of the largest media conglomerates of the 20th century, owner of several newspapers, magazines, and radio.
