''Mallikoulu'' () is a Finnish television reality show. The first season aired in 2005 on MTV3, and was followed by a half-hour follow up show on the smaller channel Sub. The show shared some similarities to the famous American TV series ''America's Next Top Model'' hosted by Tyra Banks, however, it was not made from the same format but from a new one created by former Finnish top model Marita Hakala. Instead of making the show only for the viewers as in ''America's Next Top Model'', its aim was teaching shy Finnish girls how to make it in the big world of Fashion based on Hakala's own experiences as a model. Season 1 The first season of the show aired in 2005 and garnered a total of 625 000 viewers, with Suvi Koponen being announced as the winner. Suvi Koponen
Suvi Maria Riggs, (née Koponen; born 26 March 1988 in Vantaa, Finland), is a Finnish fashion model who rose to fame after winning the 2005 '' Mallikoulu'' (''Model School'' in English) contest in Finland. She has worked for numerous designers including Anna Sui, Vera Wang, Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, Anne Klein, Blumarine, Miu Miu, BCBG Max Azria, Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, Nina Ricci and Prada. Marita Hakala
Marita Hakala (born 10 November 1968) is a Finnish businessperson and fashion model. After a part-time modeling career in Finland, she became a full time professional model in Milan, Italy, where her first booking was with Blumarine, a high-end fashion house. Marita Hakala created a reality television series '' Mallikoulu'' (''Model School''), based on her experiences in the modeling world. The show was aired on Finland's leading broadcasting TV network MTV3 followed by a spinoff show on Sub TV on Fridays at prime time during 2005 and 2006, and 2015 on Ava. The first season's winner, Suvi Koponen, became the first international Finnish supermodel. ''Suomen huippumalli haussa'' () is a Finnish reality show based on ''America's Next Top Model''. The series premiered on 6 April 2008, on the Finnish channel Nelonen. The show is produced by FremantleMedia. The winner of cycle one, Ani Alitalo, was awarded a €25,000 contract witPaparazzi Model Management the front cover of Finnish ''Cosmopolitan'' and became a spokesperson for Max Factor. The winners of cycles two (Nanna Grundfeldt) and three (Jenna Kuokkanen) also won the same awards, however, there was no announced cash prize for the modeling contract, and there were two additional casting trips to Milan for Grundfeldt, and a trip to New York for Kuokkanen as part of the prize. MTV3
MTV3 ( fi, MTV Kolme, sv, MTV Tre) is a Finnish commercial television station. It had the biggest audience share of all Finnish TV channels until Yle TV1 (from Yle) took the lead. The letters MTV stand for Mainos-TV (literally "Advertisement-TV", i.e. "Commercial TV), due to the channel carrying advertising for revenue. Number 3 was added later, when the channel was allocated the third nationwide television channel and it generally became known as "Channel Three"—Finnish Broadcasting Company’s Yle TV1 and Yle TV2 being the first two—and also to distinguish it from the later MTV Finland, which is a Finnish version of Paramount's MTV channel. Donna Karan (, born Donna Ivy Faske), also known as "DK", is an American fashion designer and the creator of the Donna Karan New York and DKNY clothing labels. Early life Karan was born Donna Ivy Faske to mother Helen "Queenie" Faske (née Rabinowitz) and father Gabriel "Gabby" Faske (born Faskowitz) in the Forest Hills neighborhood of the Borough of Queens, New York City.
