Maldives Film Awards
The Maldives Film Awards are presented by Maldives Film Association to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Maldivian film industry. The ceremony had been sponsored by various private organizations in the past including Enchanteur and Ilsha. A live ceremony was broadcast to television audiences. History The Maldives Film Awards were first introduced in 2011. In the first awards function, held on 2 July 2011, awards were given to films released in 2008 and 2009; picked from 5th Gaumee Film Awards held in 2007. The association attempted to host the fourth edition of the award in 2016, but it was cancelled following several delays. ''Farihibe 4'' is a 2013 Maldivian period drama short-film directed by Abdulla Muaz. Produced by Mohamed Abdulla under Dhekedheke Ves Production, the film stars Mohamed Abdulla, Ismail Rasheed, Fathimath Azifa and Aishath Rishmy in pivotal roles. All the dialogues of the film were conveyed in the form of ''farihi'', a traditional satirical format of a poem. Premise Farihibe ( Mohamed Abdulla) is romantically attracted to a young pretty woman, Abidha (Fathimath Azifa) while her vile step-mother (Mariyam Haleem) arranges her marriage with wealthy businessman Ajumal (Ismail Rasheed) who is rumored to be having an affair with Suraiyya (Aishath Rishmy). Hussain Munawwar
Hussain Munawwar (born 5 February 1998), commonly known as Kuda Foolhu is a Maldivian film director, cinematographer, producer and actor. Career In 2006, Munawwar starred as the character Kudafoolhu, a manipulative devil under the strict instructions of his master, in the first installment of Yoosuf Shafeeu-directed short film series, '' Vasvaas'' which proved to be a breakthrough for him with his humorous and child-friendly act. He reprised the role in several of his other ventures including ''Kudafoolhuge Vasvaas'' (2006) and ''Kudafoolhaai Paree Dhahtha'' (2007). His performance in playing the character fetched him a Maldives Film Award for Best Actor in short films category. Mohamed Abdulla (6 December 1974) is a Maldivian film producer, actor and a politician. Career Acting career In his career, Abdulla starred in a limited feature films; ''Bulbulaa'' (1999) and Amjad Ibrahim's comedy drama film ''Majubooru Loabi'' (2000). The latter being a commercial success, marks the only collaboration of Abdulla with legendary comedy actors, Haajara Abdul Kareem and Sithi Fulhu. Muhamma is a census town in Cherthala Taluk in Alappuzha district in the Indian state of Kerala.
